clothes make the man (or vampire)
Created: 04/01/08
I grew up with this altered reality supernatural soap opera from the late 60's. It has a cult status and nostalgia, delightfully campy, but straightfacedly sinister at all times. It has become an addiction for me to see as many of the old episodes as possible, and these collections allow you to have Dark Shadows marathons at your leisure. In this set, poor young David knows the truth about Barnabas Collins, the 175 year old vampire/cousin, and the mysterious events surrounding his lifestyle. The rest of the cast either think he's lost his mind, or know that David knows, and mess with his mind to make everyone else think he's lost his mind. Talk about dysfunctional families! Wonder what happens when he grows up, but maybe I'll find that out in the later series. Recommended if you enjoy fiction on the dark side, but "don't ask too many questions".

Dark Shadows Collection IV
Created: 19/04/09
A tremendous four-disc DVD of Collection IV featuring 40 on the edge Dark Shadows episodes that ranges from Barnabas Collins' dark secret nearly discovered due to David Collins' bizarre behavior and relationship with ghost/spirit Sarah.
Eventually, a seance leads to Victoria Winters going back in time to the year 1795 where she uncovers the Collins' deepest secrets. We're introduced to Barnabas' love Josette and Angelique, who obsesses about Barnabas so much, she turns to witchcraft.
These are easily some of the best episodes of the series and can be watched over and over for effect. If you love suspense and great writing, then it's a must.

Barnabas evolves and amazes, and the soap charm continues...
Created: 22/04/11
The saga continues - Jonathon Frid continues to amaze as his Barnabas character constantly struggles, evolves and adapts to life as a Rip Van Winkle styled vampire from another time. All around Barnabas continue to confound and amaze with their circuitous pursuit of understanding of the demonic forces that dwell among them in mysterious Collinwood and Collinsport. The occasional set and dialogue gaffs and camp sixties soap aura only add to the warmth, charm and allure of this wonderful series. I am glad it is still with us - and in this wonderful set of DVDs - it is a treasure!

Dark Shadows - Collection 4

I used to watch the daily show after I got home from school and find it very entertaining even now after 40 years! I watch about 2-3 episodes every Saturday night when I can. I truly look forward to my evening with Barnabus Collins! Some dvd's are in black and white and the actor's are a riot to watch, not to mention the story line.
