Product Information
After years of standing in Jak's shadow, Daxter finally gets his turn inthe spotlight as he stars in his very own self-titled game. As the first title developed by Santa Ana-based Ready At Dawn Studios, Daxter will push the popular Jak and Daxter world in new directions through the eyes of Daxter as it completes the Jak and Daxter story and allow players to find out how Daxter became a hero, freeing Jak at the beginning of Jak II. Daxter, on his own in an unfamiliar place, realizes that being small and furry won't help his chances of survival or saving Jak, so he takes on a job as a pest exterminator -- a job in high demand due to a mysterious metalbug invasion. His new job enables him to explore parts of Haven City in an effort to collect the clues that will lead him to Jak ... but Daxter soon discovers more excitement than he bargained for.

    Daxter Full Length Review!

    Created: 13/02/07
Daxter- Rated E10+ for Animated blood, cartoon vilence, crude humor, and mild language

It takes place right before Jak ll

The Pros: superb graphics, easy controls, colorful scenes, many moves to learn, great gameplay, different missions, variety of vehicles.

The Con: a few camera problems and Not always varied gameplay.

Story: You play as Daxter, a half otter half weasel mix. You work around Haven city disguised as a bug exterminator, in order to find clues in hope of breaking Jak (from the infamous Jak and Daxter) out of prison. You have different gadgets (like flamethrower, toxic spray, mini bombs), and you will need all of them to survive. I give it a 8.3/10.

Amount of Fun: This game is great fun, though it can get pretty frustrating at times, like during boss battles where you have no idea how to beat them . However, w/ different variety, this game is great. Many of the missions are different, and the game rarely gets boring. I gave it a 9.0/10

Graphics: This might as well be the best part of the game! The graphics are simply superb! They're visually stunning! No matter what you do, where you are in the game, the graphics are always amazing! Not much else to be said. I give them a 9.6/10

Sound: The music is great and goes w/ the settings and scenes. The voice ins are perfect, though I was a little surprised when I first heard Daxter talk (for those of you who have never played a Jak and Daxter game, yup, he can talk). There are no multiple voice-ins (like the same ppl for different charectors). Daxter's pretty funny too!I gave it a 9.7/10

Controls: The controls in this game are simple, and don't take very long to get used to. Maybe 15 minutes at the most! You learn new moves as you collect certain eggs and act out Daxter's "Heroic Fantasies". The camera is easy to control (L and R to move the camera), and overall I gave the controls a 9.0/10

Gameplay: Gameplay is pretty similar to the console version of the game, except it's all Daxter. It is full of variety! There are very few boring parts, and it's pretty rare that you get stuck. I gave this a 9.6/10, also.

Difficulty: This game is fairly simple, and rarely gets you discourgaed. Only once or twice do you get stuck (meaning you do the same thing more than 10 times). It's too easy at times, so I would give this an 8.1/10

Multiplayer: Ther is only AD Hoc mode for multiplayer, meaning local only. In multiplayer mode, you do weird bug battles. You put your bug up against other people's bugs. I've never done it, so I'm not going to give it a score.

Replay value: This game isn't very long. I beat it in 8 hrs and 51 minutes. It's not exactly the longest game. You collect eggs in order to unlock the new dream sequences (heroic dream/fantasies) which, when you beat, unlocks new moves. However, you often collect eggs while playing, and like me, don't go back and do a lvl over simply to collect eggs. I unlocked all new moves b4 finishing the game. There isn't very much to do once you've beaten the game, other than go on you "scooter" and drive around, which isn't even half as fun as it sounds :( (nothing like GTA) I personally will trade daxter for new games once I beat this. So I gave replay value a 6.4/10

OVERALL: This game is one to buy, or rent for a week or two (if that's possible). Since it's E, this game is fun for anyone, young or old, or anyone between! I gave this game a 9.0 overall! This isn't the actual score, but what I personally think.

Excellent fun! A great game to own for the PSP!

    Created: 29/04/06
This game is the best platformer for the PSP to date. Besides the startlingly acute graphics and beautifully rendered backgrounds, the game features an exciting take on the Jax and Daxter series of games. This time around, Daxter is equipped with a bug sprayer that is as versitile as it is powerful; kind of reminicent of Super Mario Sunshines water jetpack. Appart from the great gameplay and controls, the game has a series of minigames that are scattered throughout the story in order to spice up the already successful game. I found my hands glued to the PSP after playing for the first hour because of the nonstop excitment. I fully recommend this game to those of you who are fans of the series and even those of you who have not played a J and D yet.

Daxter - Fun for Adults, Easy for Kids

    Created: 15/05/08
Being a big fan of the Zak and Daxter series of games for the Ps2 going back years, I was excited to get a chance to play a spin off of the series on the PSP. I rented it at Blockbuster and with minimal time (maybe 15 hours total) I was able to beat it from beginning to end. Granted I didn't gather all of the orbs, but I was able to actually beat the boss and complete the game. Since then, I've now bought the title in order to gather the orbs and hidden eggs and take my time discovering all of the hidden gems. All in all, this game is simply okay. The graphics translate well over to the PSP and the game is actually kind of fun in a very simple mind numbing bug squashing way. The enemies aren't all that inventive or challenging, but for platforming fans, it will keep you occupied and you can actually find a copy of this game on Ebay for easily under $15 including shipping and that makes it an even better deal. If you're not a collector type of player (find all of the hidden eggs and orbs), just rent it. You'll be able to finish it pretty quickly. But if you like to search around and find the hidden collectibles, go ahead and buy it, because you can snatch it up pretty inexpensively at this point in its lifespan.

    Best platformer for the PSP.

    Created: 04/02/07
This game is very fun to pick up and play. You play the game as Daxter from the Jak and Daxter series that was available on the PS2. As an exterminator, Daxter's job is the help rid the town of bugs.
The graphics really show what the PSP can do. With a smooth frame rate, high polygon count and vivid colors, the game is one of the best looking PSP titles out there.
The controls are also easy to pick up and the game controls quite well with the PSP analog nub.

Buttomline: If you need a fun platformer with a quality story and excellent graphics, this the the game for you.

One of the most beautifully crafted games for the PSP.

    Created: 10/10/08
Daxter has to be one of the best games for the PSP so far. It has a lot to offer. The graphics are simply spectacular and the gameplay isn't difficult at all. The game isn't too complicated or too hard, as well as the controls. It has a very good storyline further extending the adventures of the Jak and Daxter franchise, only in this game Daxter is the hero set out to rescue Jak. The game has a pretty lengthy storyline which really keeps the player from getting bored. The game offers a few enjoyable side missons which aren't too complicated along with a variety of gadgets which you recieve as you progress through the game. Also through out the game you will come across several vehicles one of which you can use to reach your misson destinations which gives the game some what of a free roam feel. The game has a few rough spots but after a couple of retrys it won't be much of a bother. Overall this is a great game for the PSP and is indeed a must have.
