A DAY NO PIGS WOULD DIE
Created: 26/01/06
This is a raw, coarse look into the lives of a Vermont farm family struggling to get ahead.
The main character, a 13 year-old boy, must learn the hard way about farm life & family duty. His father ,who stands & slaughters pigs for a living all day, prepares him for what lies ahead with common-sense philosophy, a deep sense of responsibility, & often harsh lessons in reality.
This is a tale of a vanished America, but the lessons within make this a good read for young & old alike. A trip back in time to a day when neighbors helped neighbors, when all food was home-grown & home-cooked, & when it was an unquestioned honor to do one's duty.
The author has a great talent for realism & for drawing the reader into the tale.
