    Movie synopsis

Stripped of sentimentality, this film visits homeless teens and young adults who survive on the margins of society. Living by begging, theft and prostitution, this loose-knit community forms an extended family. King (Dermot Mulroney) is the unofficial patriarch looking after the motley crew of addicts and runaways. He especially works hard to keep Greg (Sean Astin), a troubled boy, away from a local drug dealer. But all King's street smarts are not enough to protect his friends from danger. Director Marc Rocco's 1992 film features a dream cast of young actors before they were stars.

    Captivating

When I first saw this movie I was blown away. They do not hold anything back, its straight and to the point. Sometimes its a bit too much to handle. The movie is excellent in every way imaginable. The acting was A+ and had a few big names stars in it (Will Smith, Sean Astin).

It does not follow the typical scheme of most movies. Not everyone gets to live happily ever after or anything like that. Its as close to real life on the streets as you can get.

I highly recommend this movie to almost anyone!

His movie brings the gritty reality of being homeless to the masses in a ver real way. This is one of those movies that truely captures real life on film. If you don't like experiencing pain, struggle and unhappy endings, this movie isn't for you. It does offer some comedy and light hearted moments, but portraying how life is for some people is the main focus of this film. This film also features Will Smith's 1st appearance on the big screen.

I first saw this movie as a strung out teenager in the movie theaters and I fell in love with it then. Its a very hard look at the street life of a young drug addict. I highly recommend this movie.
