Except for Sookie Stackhouse, folks in Bon Temps, Louisiana, know little about vamps?and nothing about weres.

Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to reveal their existence to the ordinary world. At first all goes well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found near the bar where Sookie works?and she feels compelled to discover who, human or otherwise, did it.

But there's a far greater danger threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beingsÂ?older, more powerful, and more secretive than vampires or werewolvesÂ?is preparing for war. And Sookie finds herself an all-too human pawn in their battle.

FOR SOOKIE STACKHOUSE THE DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES OF THE VAMPIRE AND WERE communities in and around bon temps, louisianna are of vital interest. she's blood bound to the leader of the vamps, is a friend to the local were pack and works for a man who is a shifter and has a brother who is a were panther.

but for most of the humans in bon temps the vamps are mysterious seductive creatures and they don't even know about the weres.

until now.the weres and the shifters have finally decided to follow the lead of the unded and reveal their existence of the ordinary world.

at first it seems to go well. then the mutilated body of a werepanther is found in the parking lot of the bar where sookie works. the vicitm is someone she knows so she feels completted to discover who human or other wise did the deed.

1. this book feels like a "bridge" as it sets up a whole bunch of story lines but gives no answers.
2. there is a murder and poor jason is a suspect for all of 10 seconds. amazing every time a murder happens they always look at poor jason.
3. we move forward with eric and sookie. SLOWLY. it's enough to make you scream "i want more!"

it's a very good book, my only complaint: TOO SHORT.............I WANT MORE!

Sookie's biggest drama yet

Created: 30/07/09
This is the Charlaine Harris series that inspired HBO's True Blood. Based in the small town or Bon Temps, Louisiana; the series is narrated by Sookie Stackhouse. The books tell her story of discovering not only herself but the supernatural world around her. Charlaine Harris creates her own world of Vampires, Shapeshifters, Faeries and Folklore. HBO's series only begins to touch the magic created by Charlaine Harris. In this installment Sookie marries and deals with the public reveal of Shifters.

Great writer and superb series

Created: 04/06/10
I love the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse collection from the "Dead Until Dark" to "Dead and Gone". It is a very imaginative series that combines alot of genres to keep it quite interesting. Once I got started, I couldn't put it down. It took only a couple of days to finish this one and I'm now reading "Dead in the Family" which is turning out to be just as good as all the others before. Charlaine's attention to the even the little details of the characters gives a very vivid mental picture of them. I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes to read about vampires or watches the HBO series "True Blood"(which is based on the books). This collection as a permanent spot on my shelf.

Sookie Stackhouse up to her neck in trouble ... again

Created: 07/11/09
Dead and Gone is up to Charlaine Harris's usual standards when it comes to the Sookie Stackhouse novels. It was a riveting read that I could hardly put down. As usual Sookie finds herself caught in the middle of conflicts in the supernatural world that should really have nothing to do with her. Once one problem gets resolved two or three more pop up and yet all get nicely resolved by the end. Fans of Sookie and True Blood will love this book. One of the great things about these books, this one included, is that while there is a whole mythos being built up as you go along through the books, you can actually pick up an individual book in the middle or end of the series and still get a good read. Ms Harris does an excellent job of containing the stories individually within each book and never leaves issues unresolved and leaving her fans wanting for the next book. Don't get me wrong, as a fan I AM wanting the next book but I don't have to worry about finding out what's going to happen before it comes out. Two thumbs up.

A FANG-BANGING GREAT TIME!

Created: 14/08/09
This is the latest installment of a terrific series of books by a solidly fun and readable author! I consider these a 'guilty pleasure' in the way I might indulge in a velvety deep-dark chocolate truffle! Once I discovered these books (from a Border's salesgirl), I devoured them (no pun intended), and now only feel let down that it'll take [too long] before I can read more about the fabulous Eric, Bill and Sookie...a group of fun characters, creative fantasy, exciting action and yummy (tasteful) eroticism too! When my local bookstore was out of Dead And Gone, I thought to buy it used on eBay (great way to go).

And don't bother with HBO's TrueBlood series (based on the books). While it has its merits (lawd, is Stephen Moyer sexy!), it's a poor interpretation of the books; lines of good/bad, moral/immoral, right/wrong, sexy/pornographic are badly blurred so stick with the books! Kudos to Charlaine Harris!!!
