    Album Notes
Though it may be underappreciated outside of the band's dedicated cult audience, 1990's DEAR 23 is simply one of the very best pop records of its decade. The Posies hailed from Seattle, but unlike their more celebrated geographic neighbors, they largely avoided grunge. Indeed, with its impossibly sweet Hollies-like harmonies and John Leckie's lush, detailed production, DEAR 23 is downright psychedelic in spots. At heart, however, it's a mature, thoughtful, occasionally folk-inflected pop album. Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow are unafraid to tackle grown-up emotions, as on the album's melancholy centerpieces, "Any Other Way" and "You Avoid Parties." The singer/songwriters are equally gifted at sprightly pop like the Monkees-like opener "My Big Mouth" and the brilliant single "Golden Blunders," as well as weightier efforts like the flinty "Help Yourself" and the endlessly swirling eight-minute closer, "Flood of Sunshine." A near-flawless record, DEAR 23 is an essential artifact of '90s power pop.

    Editorial Reviews
..the quartet comes off more fresh-faced than any pop group should be allowed in 1990.
    New York Times

Credit Stone Roses producer John Leckie for the gauzy yet enormous sound, which gooses the tingly 'Apology' and the cowpoke lope of 'Suddenly Mary' to lush heights.

3.5 Stars - Very Good - ..the Posies really are the Hollies--and Badfinger, and the Move, and the Searchers, all rolled together and reincarnated in their prime.

The Posies - Dear 23 - Warm Welcome to 1990 CD

    Created: 01/03/06
Incredible band from the music meca of Seattle Washington. Although this is not the typical sounds that were hailing from the area at the times.

Feature the 2 vocalist / guitarists Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow.

    Catchy melodies and clever lyrics.

    Pop Rock at it's best.

This is one of those albums that you can listen to over and over and stays ageless.

    Tracks

    1. My Big Mouth
    2. Golden Blunders
    3. Apology
    4. Any Other Way
    5. You Avoid Parties
    6. Suddenly Mary
    7. Help Yourself
    8. Mrs. Green
    9. Everyone Moves Away
    10. Flood Of Sunshine

You may have heard Golden Blunders on the radio as did receive some mild radio airplay as the single from the band.

The band never received the recognition they deserved but have a loyal fan base mainly in Europe, Australia, Western Canada and the USA.

Check out their other albums also as they are all also brilliant.

If you are fortunate to catch the band or either of the two main members on tour be sure to check them out live as they are incredible.
