The Debut (DVD, 2003, Special Edition)

This is a great movie. I saw this movie at the movie theaters back in the days during it's debut as an independent film. I love this movie because it reminds me of the times growing up as a Pinoy (Filipino male) in the Bay Area, CA. with friends and family. Myself and others can relate to this all the way. I let my kids watch this to show them how it was then and now. They understand home culture part because they see how my parent act towards me still even though I'm older now. LoL! There's a similar part in the Black Eyed Peas music video "Bebot", how the Allan Lindo (aka apl.de.ap) mom was bothing him before he left the house to go out. That also is a great music video that shows some Filipino history and how it all started in Stockton,CA. Check out www.happyslip.com. She's very funny. She shows the comedy side of how it is growing up in a Filipino family in America. You can also catch it on YouTube.
I highly suggest this movie because it shows how it is for us living as Filipino American.

This is one of those films that no DVD Collection could be without. I watched this movie three times in theaters when it first "debuted." It stars Dante Basco aka "RUFIO" and is a coming of age story/comedy. It's very funny and entertaining. Don't delay, buy it today!!!

i bought the dvd the debut several weeks ago...and i like it i watch 2 a day...i like the story line and the cast of characters....the cast and director did a wonderful job of telling the story of what the writer had in his or her mind...i would recomend this movie to anyone..

I enjoy this movie a lot! I can relate to a lot of what the main character (Dante Basco) goes through in the movie. An excellent story of some of the flipino traditions that even my family have.

I bought The Debut DVD because I like how the storyline of the dvd relates to my culture. I've watched it a couple of times and i decided i wanted to get the dvd, so i can watch it whenever i feel the need to connect to my culture!
