Deep Purple - Around the World Live (DVD, 2008, 4-Disc Set)

Well, here I am, a dyed in the wool Deep Purple fan since day one. You name the live performance video and I've bought it, downloaded it(blush),or taped it! Some were of pretty poor quality,(especially in the early years) but Hey, This is DEEP PURPLE! we're talking about! Any video was good video
! As a keybordist myself,(JON LORD RULES!) I've always loved this Band, and excitedly watched the videos get better and better.Which brings me to this latest offering,"Around the World Live".
Now first,a word of warning!If you are one of those people who think D.P.could not exist without Ritchie Blackmore,(I love him too!)Then skip this review and do'nt waste your time or money on this DVD set! HOWEVER, if you, like me, have enjoyed the Band going through their various incarnations, and still producing superb music, read on!
First, the video quality/camera angles are excellent! Someone obviously knew what they were doing, which does'nt always hold true, even with "New Releases"!Also the sound is GREAT! Lots of Bottom End, yet every note is distinct!
The interviews and backstage footage only add,rather than detract from the whole DVD experiance.
Throw in the absolute Joy which these guys obviously feel in playing together,(Which was not always the case where D.P. was concerned)and you've got a Damn good reason to buy it.
The clincher tho is the Jon Lord "Farewell" concert! A "passing of the torch" if you will.This wonderful yet sad,event is alone worth the price!
So "HUSH",dont' be "LAZY",Even tho we are 'PERFECT STRANGERS" trust me on this one! You will Love watching and listening to the Band's virtuosity,(both individually and collectively)on a 'BLACK NIGHT"!
