Déjà Vu (Blu-ray Disc, 2007)

Tony Scott, Denzel Washington, Jim Caviezel|Theatrical release: 2006 | Rating: PG-13 (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

After the success of 2004's MAN ON FIRE, director Tony Scott and Denzel Washington teamed up once again--this time alongside high-powered producer Jerry Bruckheimer--to deliver this big-budget spectacle of an action picture set in post-Katrina New Orleans. The city is delivered another crushing blow when a ferry explodes, killing over 500 innocent citizens. Only this time, nature wasn't the cause of the tragedy. Enter ATF officer Doug Carlin (Washington), who is recruited by a newly formed FBI unit (headed by Val Kilmer) to help track down the killer (a Timothy McVeigh-esque Jim Caviezel). When a body is found floating in the river, it is determined that the victim was murdered before the ferry blast occurred. Unfortunately, the victim was the impossibly beautiful Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton), whose death has begun to torment Carlin. Adding a new level to the investigation is a top-secret FBI invention, which allows a select group to view the past on screen as if it had been videotaped days earlier. The more Carlin sees of Kuchever, the more connected to her he becomes, until he decides to risk his life by traveling back in time and altering the course of history.Plausibility isn't the number one reason to watch a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, and DÉJÀ VU is certainly no exception. This time around, however, Bruckheimer wisely recruited Scott and Washington to bring their expertise to the project. The result is another stylish and atmospheric drama/thriller/romance/action-adventure hybrid, which raises interesting questions as it entertains.

A Denzel fan must!

First, you have to recognize that this movie takes certain liberties and requires a healthy suspension of disbelief. As far as I know, time travel isn't available yet but the way the movie is acted, I feel they do a great job convincing you it is. None of the actors, especially Denzel, is winking at the screen egging you on. I like how this movie bends time and leads you to believe that hey, why can't this be real? Denzel turns a great performance as does Val Kilmer and the rest of the cast playing the scientists. Really, the possibilities are endless in a Terminator kind of way. What would happen if you saw yourself or talked to yourself? If you touched? How would you react? Once again Ridley Scott turns in another greatly shot and acted film. He can visually hold you and make you hold your breath only to take it away moments later. So in case you haven't figured it out...I like this movie...a lot.

Deja Vu Blu Review

Created: 04/04/08
Deja-vu was one of those movies that asked you to think outside of reality. I enjoyed it and thought the whole idea of being able to go back and watch what happened a couple days ago really was wild. It makes you think. Can the goverment really do this? Than the whole nonsense of going back in time the way they did, well that really was kind of goofy, but hey it worked for the move. Overall I found this movie worth watching. It had a decent storyline with a good picture and good sound behind it. So if your in the mood for a mystery sci fi type of movie this would be good for you.

Outstanding movie with outstanding special effects.

If you like a lot of explosions and gunfire, this is a perfect movie for it. Sounds awesome on a home theater system. Denzel Washington delivers high quality acting as usual. Can't beat a Blu Ray DVD for quality in both audio and video.

Deja Vu

I like movies with action and excitement and some drama. This fit the bill and so I decided to buy it. I also like the actors in the movie. The color is great and crisp in blue-ray. I have no complaints. I would recommend this movie, and besides I have watched it several times since buying it.
