Dell Inspiron Duo Tablet PC

I have read a lot of reviews both good and bad about this tablet. My conclusion is that the bad reviews want it to be a desktop speed demon, and that is not it's purpose. I am a professional pilot and I use it for excel spreadsheets, Word docs, and PDFs in a very confined space. The 320GB hard drive is more than adequate in a portable unit. For me, I can't imagine anything better. The quality is good, the unique flip top protects the screen, resolution is excellent, and I have full functionality of Windows 7. If you need a small computer, this is it. It is not a tablet designed for numerous frivolous apps...it is a mini computer that doubles as a touch screen tablet and it does a marvelous job in either incarnation. My only complaint about the entire unit is the battery life. It should be much longer than Dell's reported life of 4 hours. To overcome that, I just turn off the screen when not in use, and it lasts me most of the day. I highly recommend the Dell Duo Table if you keep in perspective what it is designed to do, and what it is not.

I bought this computer for my wife who has just started working in real estate (Yeah, I know!) and it has been performing exceptionally well for her. She wanted to have a way to access the internet for her clients to see other available homes and pull up electronic forms while showing homes without having to lug around her full size laptop. I think the first thing one has to remember is that this is NOT a tablet and it is NOT a laptop, but a hybrid netbook that gives the user a taste of both in a very portable format. I can not stress the portability issue enough, the wife loves slipping the Duo into her messenger bag with her other work related paraphernalia and she is off and running, the first few times she took the Duo on the road she actually forgot she had it until she opened her bag! She also loves the fact that she can go from the touchscreen showing pictures of her current listings in a slideshow on display to pulling up more detailed information on listings or contract paperwork online in just a "flip" of the screen. She did have some slight difficulty with the smaller keyboard layout but adjusted quite quickly and loves the "feel" of the keys. All-in-all, she has been extremely satisfied with the Duo, and as anybody knows, if Mama's happy then everybody is happy! I have to say this is one of the best purchases I have made over the years as far as computers go, thanks Dell for creating the Duo!!!

This is a convenient alternative to a ful size computer. Once I adjusted to the smaller screen size and the combined function keys, I began to really enjoy my unit.

I thought I would miss having a disk drive, but I don't. Having access to all the things that I want via internet and usb drive makes up for this absent component.

The limited usb ports can be compensated by a port expander for a small prie and the lack of other ports are non-issues for my use of this maching.

In addition, the flip touch screen performs and shows very well when viewing presentations and videos. I have my 3 year old grand daughter for summer and she too have come to enjoy the dual chhoices of this system while watching her favorite online cartoon and movies.

In the end, I rate this producct with a 4 out of 5. I can't give it a because screen size is deceptively small.

Very good compact notebook. Great for college student for notes, portablity, easy to use. I would suggest buying a stylus to go with it to make writing on the screen easier than simply using your finger. CD drive is not needed, but externals will attach with ease. A classic take on a brand new idea. Tablet meets desktop... kinda... very much worth the price.

This is a great little laptop. I highly recommend getting the two gb of ram with this laptop, and also the docking station.
The docking staion allows you to use the laptop for other options and gives you the addition of two usb ports, an ethernet port, a headphone out port and the ability to use the touchscreen without having to hold the laptop.

I compared it to my 64 bit windows 7 laptop with a 17" screen and the little one was my preference.

The lighter weight is more suited for me rather than a bigger screen and the ability to use it as a laptop and a touch screen make it even more appealing.

Look for a nice, used one or a dell outlet laptop with the two gb of ram and I believe you will be most satisfied.
