it came with a 1.8 duo-core processer and only 1gig memory and 60 or a 80 gig harddrive with win vista busness,,
ok for entry level but,
i turned up the onboard video memory to max and jacked up the memory to max level of 4 gig pc2-6400 and added a faster processer T-7500 duo-core 2.2 and bought extra hardrive caddys for a switchout of the harddrives,1 came with it has vista on it ,1 has a 250 gig drive with xp on it and the other has a 620 gig drive with windows 7 on it and bought an extra drivebay caddy (put a 1 terbyte harddrive in it) that goes into the slot where the dvd burner goes and can swap out the dvd burner for the 1 terabyte harddrive when i need to save large files.
also have a floppy drive that can be switched out for the dvd burner if needed.
and can swap out the windows system harddrives by taking out 2 screws ,takes about 2 minutes/less from shutdown to boot back up..
i saw on ebay where they was some T-7700 2.4 duo-core processers for it also,,might upgrade it some more later on..
almost forgot ,changed out the onboard wi-fi card from 802:11b/g (54mbps) to faster 802:11n(300mbps) wireless .
not much else you could want in a laptop if you take the time to do the upgrades to it..good luck with yours, i love mine after i did the upgrades..

I cannot praise this laptop or this seller highly enough. The Dell Latitude D630 exceeded all my expectations -- and I am an extremely demanding computer user.
I have purchased "off-lease" and "refurbished" laptops before, and they were usually disappointing, to say the least: some looked as if they'd been run over by a T-Rex driving a steamroller and performed minimally. Typically, they come with batteries that will not hold a 30-minute charge, so the immediate purchase of a new battery was required. None of these faults applies to the Dell Latitude D630 I received from this seller.
First of all, the price was exceptionally low for the quality of the machine, the size of the hard drive, and the amount of RAM it came with. The laptop arrived quickly, securely packaged, and I received my first pleasant surprise when I extricated it from the layers of bubble wrap: the computer looked brand new. Once I opened it, this impression was confirmed: there were none of the typical signs of wear on any of the most vulnerable places (palm rests, space bar, et al.) to indicate that this computer had been "rode hard and put away wet." The second pleasant surprise came when I fired up the computer: it booted quickly, came up with a clean, uncluttered screen, and functioned perfectly from the start. When I checked the battery's charge, it showed a full charge of over 3 hours, of which I was admittedly skeptical; as it turned out, I had no reason to be.
As I began to load the software I would be using most frequently, I found that the battery included did indeed have a long useful working life. The Latitude came with its original-equipment charger, which fully recharges the battery in less than two hours. I have now logged well over two months' constant work on this machine, and I have yet to experience any reason for complaint. I am tempted to buy another one just like it and store it away until I need it; however, by that time, Dell will probably be producing Latitudes that run on anti-matter cells, so I guess I'll wait. Meanwhile, I couldn't be happier with the D630.
Oh, what do I dislike about the product? There's nothing negative I could say about the Latitude D630 that I couldn't also say about any other laptop by any other manufacturer: it doesn't have a 50-inch screen; the keyboard is in a weird place, requiring the user to type at a weird angle; it doesn't come pre-installed with the American Film Institute's Top 100 movies; and so far, it hasn't guaranteed the sale of any of my screenplays. Other than that, it's everything a laptop computer should be.

I bought this laptop to have a pretty stable, easily upgradable laptop for general use. Overall it serves its duty well, and I have almost no complaints.
What I like about this Product:
-Core 2 Duo.
Intel power. Its a nice little processor (T7800), with Speedstep and 64 bit. It is fairly cool, and runs everything. Nice upgrade from the netburst crap I was running before.
-Nvidia Quadro graphics
Powerful little card. I havent disassembled this laptop yet, but I assume that it is a MXM2.0 card, which would mean upgradeability. Its very stable, and overclocks nicely (I got it OCd to 520/1040/775 (all max values) using MSI afterburner and it is still rock stable. I would probably be able to hit 600 to 650 or higher if I had a program that didnt limit the OC.
SATA 3Gb/s
SATA HDD means the largest supported is 1TB. I personally am running a 750 GB western digital 7200 RPM and it is lightning fast. Massive upgrade from the 4200 RPM 30GB ATA100 I was using. SATA also means that this can support Solid State Drives should you want to install one.
PM965 Chipset.
Provides ICH8 IIRC, that renders nicely the SATA hard drive in IDE mode. Allows the use of pretty much any OS from DOS to Windows to OSX to Linux and any others out there.
Resolution.
Not really something i look for often in laptops, but this one is 1440*900, and it displays perfectly. It appears to be a Matte screen also, which aides a lot when I am using it outside.
D Bay:
Neat little feature. Allows me to add a battery, Floppy, SATA or PATA hard drive, or DVD/CD drive with the simple push of a button/switch.
Things I didn't like.
Memory:
The primary DIMM is under the keyboard. It wasn't difficult to access, but it took a google search to the tech manual to find it. I would have preferred it to be next to or under the one on the bottom like most newer laptops.
DDR2 speed is limited to 667 MHz. This is either a chipset or BIOS limitation. Not really noticeable unless your benching it frequently.
Design Quality:
This machine is stable, and rock solid. Two thumbs way up for dell on this one. Little to no flex in the construction at all.
OS Support:
I will chalk this one up to Nvidia stubbornness. There is little to no graphics driver support for Windows OSs not based on NT5 or NT6 (2000 up). I really wanted to run 98SE on this, but can not because of total lack of any graphic drivers.
Wifi:
There is a driver bug that kicks me from the wifi connection when now under heavy use (netflix, downloading large files, etc). I know its not hardware because it has yet to happen under Linux, And hardware is ignorant of OS type when its failing.

Dell D630 from Laptops Unlimited
Created: 09/01/11
I wanted a laptop to run Windows XP. New ones only support Vista or 7, so I looked at used product. The Dell D630 with a 1.6 Ghz Intel dual core CPU and 2 GB of RAM will run XP or Vista, has a WiFi card, 3 USB ports, a nice feeling keyboard, and a 14" wide screen display that supports several resolutions, up to 1280 x 800.Mine came with Vista installed, but I replaced it with XP. After two months of use I am still thrilled with its quick boot-up, long range wireless-G, and ability to create DVDs using Roxio EMC 8 in less time than my desktop PC. I bought it on e-Bay from Laptops Unlimited. The price was great and the service was fast. I bought a similar Dell D620 from them also, for a friend who was impressed.

Out of the well packed box,I found this laptop to exceed my expectations.I have always preffered Dell laptops for many reasons.I am a Texan and whenever possible, keep my dollars close to home.My three previous laptops were Dells and passed to family members whenever I upgraded and all are still in use after as many as ten years after I purchased them.
When my new brides 'other brand' laptop became a perpetual nightmare,I found this Dual Core computer for a great price on ebay. This time I purchased a business or'D' class laptop.Previous purchases were personal or 'C' class computers.Over time, the only part that failed was the hinges that support the screen.I replaced a couple of them myself at a cost of twenty dollars each.
It came loaded with Windows Vista Business operating system. After a couple of months,I prefer the Windows XP Pro to the one installed in this one.
The product was in excellent condition.I purchased this refurbished laptop with confidence as my history with Dell has been great.
