A great Deal and Good Communication!

I made the decision to buy this laptop because it was a laptop I had been looking to purchase for quite sometime. Due to the original price tag of ($2500 to $4500) when it was first released it was out of my personal financial reach. I purchased it and even though it is a couple years old, boy I am happy I did. The performance is amazing for a laptop, double SLI video cards, upgrade capabilities, Windows 7 Professional 32bit upgradable with no problems (It is also Win7 64 bit upgradable but DELL has not released application support for all lighting effects), and I was able to get warranty extention for it. The lighting effects seperates it from your typical laptop visually and makes it easy to see at night. A very nice 17in display is awsome to see regular functions of a laptop, gaming, pictures, presentations with projector support, TV outputs, Audio outputs. Sound quality for a laptop is pretty impressive too. I like the fact that it also has Bluetooth capabilities, WAN and multiple wireless support and all connecting ports towards the back of the laptop. The laptop is build quality is superior and very solid. The keyboard is a full size keyboard and feels natural with no crunch feeling. The touch mouse pad is very responsive and precise. The overall performance of the laptop is as powerful as your higher end Desktops out in the market today. (Best Buy, Office Depot, Fry's)
The opportunities with a powerful 17in gaming laptop, is battery life and heat. Make sure to invest on a laptop cooler to prolong the life of the laptop and battery. The build quality does add some weight and is not a light laptop at all.

I had been eying this PC for some time. It can be expensive but with patience you can snag a good deal. I read numerous reviews, both professional and user. Most pros liked the machine but most users seemed to hate it. But it occurs to me that the majority of user views found on the net are by the unhappy with an ax to grind. Many seemed, in my opinion based on their self-descriptions of their use, to be product abusers. Happy customers don't usually go out of the way to post.
The laptop is built with gamers in mind and for that reason it is powerful and fast. Though older with older processors and DDR2 memory, I'll put it up against anything comparably priced today. Handles games and multi-media tasks well. If you are a gamer then you know that developers are constantly pushing the envelope on graphics and performance. For that reason you know that even today's top of the line gaming rig will be obsolete by next year's standards. But for virtually all other purposes it is more than enough machine.
It's big. It is better suited as a desktop replacement than a portable PC but it is mobile. It also requires a lot of power so battery life is a non factor. You will want to stay plugged into the grid. It's near the end of its upgradeability but it by no means can be called inadequate. It can run XP Vista and 7. 32 and 64 bit. Ram maxes at 4gb in 32 bit but doubles plus in 64 bit. Then is an Intel extreme overclockable processor availble for this model plus three levels of Invidia graphics cards.
If you are a hard core gamer who pushes his/her machine to the exreme limits then expect problems as you would with any factory machine asked to do more than it was initially designed to do. hard core gaming really requires custom desktops but I know you Know that.
For you casual gamers and media buffs this is a great machine. Runs Media Center and streams movies as well as your internet connection will allow it.
Just remember to do the routine maintenance one would expect of any computer and you shhould enjoy this machine for quit some time.
