Created: 08/08/10
I LOVE THIS MACHINE! IT IS THE ONLY COFFEE MAKER WITH POTS THAT DO NOT DRIP WHEN YOU POUR IT. AND THE SENSA KNOB, THAT YOU CAN SELECT YOUR WHAT KIND OF COFFEE YOU LIKE IT THE BEST. THE FLAVOR JUST COMES OUT PERFECT. ALSO I LOVE THAT YOU CAN SELECT YOUR OWN TIME TO HAVE THE POT SHUT OFF. FROM NONE TO WHENEVER. IT MAKES BOTH ESPRESSO AND COFFEE OF THE BEST COFFEE SHOP FAVOR THERE IS. AND THE SPACE SAVING IS FANTASTIC. I ALWAYS HAS A BUNN, THE BEST BUNN, BUT THIS IS SO GREAT TO HAVE BOTH IN ONE. GREAT FAVOR, HOT COFFEE AND THE STYLE OF COFFEE YOU LIKE WITH THE SENSA KNOB. ALL I CAN SAY IS IT IS PERFECT!( AND I HIGHLY RECOMMNED THE DELONGHI BURR GRINDER ALSO. THAT YOU CAN SELECT YOUR STYLE OF COFFEE ALSO. PERFECT GRIND EVERY TIME.
10*** ALL THE WAY ON THIS MACHINE. PERFECT IS THE WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS MACHINE!

Good Product

I bought this product to save counter space and make both latte's and coffee. My only complaints to date- is the caraffe spills while pouring it, it is very large (no space is save from having 2 separate products), and it's not as easy as my old espresso maching to make latte's. It makes good coffee and latte's (once you master the directions.

The Brand continues to struggle

After replacing a previous similar unit which was leaking water out of the top, I placed this one in service where it worked for approximately 3 weeks before starting to pump all the water from the coffee resevoir out of the bottom of the machine. One call to customer service provided a work-around of turning the brew strength selector down to medium or below. This didn't help. The next call to customer service resulted in the statement that I would have to call a repair center for warranty service - unfortunately the number provided was that of a private citizen not a repair facility. Finally, because customer service works bankers hours M-F 8:30-5:00 I will have to wait until a week from now to try and call again. I will fight my way through these repairs, however I strongly recommend against anyone else purchasing one of these DeLonghi Coffee/Espresso combination machines.

Died in 40 days

Makes good coffee and great foamed milk but stopped working ~40 days after we first plugged it in. Loved having the coffee brewing when we came down in the morning but today I noticed the clock had gone blank. The steamer still works but the coffee section does not.

I have had the DeLonghi IFD Espresso/Cappuccino maker for just under four years. In the first year the switch stopped working and then, after five weeks awaiting repair, I had it for two more months before the pump went. I had this repaired. At about 18 months it began leaking water all over the counter. As it was out of warranty and I was overwhelmed with kids/ job/ life I put up with the morning countertop flood for over a year. Then I took it in for yet another repair at the authroized service depot (where I am now on a first name basis) and brought it back three times in three months as it continued to leak no matter what they did to it. The repair cost $80 on a $200 coffee maker. I picked it up a few months ago in May and it has been working beautifully making great coffee - until two weeks ago (now it is August) when (wait for it) the pump stopped working. The light comes on and then - nothing. I have moved to the $20 Bodum coffee maker and will trash the DeLonghi. It has been an expensive boat anchor from the get go. The DeLonghi Customer Service people have strung me along with their "no one else has had these problems". Don't buy their baloney and don't buy their coffee maker. Believe me.
