Personnel includes: Nick Walker (keyboards, programming); Geoff Dugmore (drums).Engineers: Ott (track 1); Andy Scarfe (tracks 2-10).Personnel: Nick Walker (keyboards, programming); Geoff Dugmore (drums).Additional personnel: Nick Walker, Geoff Dugmore.Audio Mixers: Killing Joke; Paul Wright III.Audio Remixer: Sheldon Isaac. Not as grand as PANDEMONIUM or as aggressive as EXTREMITIES, DIRT & VARIOUS REPRESSED EMOTIONS, 1996's DEMOCRACY stands as one of the U.K. post-punk/industrial act's most eclectic albums, with tracks ranging from the acoustic-tinged "Savage Freedom" to the pulsing, Native American-tinged "Medicine Wheel" and the pile-driving "Another Bloody Election." Unfortunately, this was the British band's last studio album for seven years, with frontman Jaz Coleman heading up symphonic rock projects until Killing Joke's triumphant self-titled return in 2003.

Editorial Reviews
3 - Meat & Potatoes - ...they have beautiful ways of redefining themselves without ever losing their sight and sense of who they are....This album spews melody and grace. A kinder and gentler Killing Joke? Not for a second. This is brutal beauty. Turn your stereo up as loud as you can and hold on to yourself...
