THE DEVIL MAY CARY 4

THE DEVIL MAY CARY 4
In this Gothic action hero type game.
Capcom keeps a lot of the overall look and feel that made this game so popular.
This story is more about Nero who is the main character. He is a member of the
Order of the Sword, The Holy Knights that protect the world against the demons. Nero must protect the city from being taken over by the demons. As you get into the story you find out that the truth behind Dante’s purpose runs deep. Yes Nero is the main character and not Dante.
Nero had three main weapons: his sword, his dual barrel revolver, his glowing demon arm, the Red Queen and the Blue Rose.
In the DMC4 Capcom gives everything in this game. There is only one thing about the game that I didn’t care for so much. It is very tough in and out of the battles even on the normal setting of the game. I guess it will make the game play even longer. The graphics are great with seamless and smooth renderings the entire game. The cut scenes are beautiful and it has a rocking sound track. You are going to love the DMC4 for the PS3.
I would give this game a 9 out of 10.

DMC4 Review

Gameplay: This game has some of the best hack and slash action out there. It has everything you'd expect, upgrades, unlockable weapons for Dante, crazy combat, and of course, big boss battles. You have both a sword and a gun. The gun is only really useful if you use the charge shots. The sword is a very versatile weapon that can be used for big combos in the air or on the ground. Nero's Red Queen sword has an ability called Exceed, which adds a flame effect to certain attacks. Dante gets his trademark weapons, the two-handed sword Rebellion, and his customized .45s Ebony and Ivory. Rebellion controls similarly to the Red Queen but doesn't have the exceed feature. When Rebellion is upgraded it can fire slash waves just like in DMC3. Ebony and Ivory can still fire in two directions, they still have charge shots, and they still can rain hell on enemies from the air. They are an excellent rapid-fire weapon. Dante also gets Gilgamesh, which I'm sad to say is yet another clone of Ifrit from the first game. It allows you to use moves from Street Fighter. SHOURYUKEN! SHINRYUKEN! SHIN SHOURYUKEN! Yeah, still a good weapon overall. You know Capcom, you can re-use weapons from previous games instead of making new ones that control the same way. You also get Dante's shotgun, a shape-shifting weapon called Pandora, and a blade generating apparatus called Lucifer. Enemies are bigger and badder. They've got fairly large movesets and they're gonna kick the crap out of you if you're not careful. The Assault's (Reptilian enemies) are incredibly fast, the Frosts will freeze you and slash you, and the Blitz's (Lightning enemies) can only be hit by gunfire until you bring down their electric barrier and they will commit suicide to kill you. The bosses are just insane. There's a flaming centaur creature, a fat frog thing, and a plant creature that can take on various forms, such as a dragon. Towards the end, you fight a living statue known as The Savior and it's easily on of the largest bosses ever put into a video game. By completing the game, you unlock the Bloody Palace, which is a form of survival mode. After beating the game on Dante Must Die (Which I've yet to do.) you unlock Super Dante and Super Nero! You know what that means! That's right! You get infinite Devil Trigger! Devil Trigger is a way to increase your character's strength and agility and they even gain new moves. Nero gets Summoned Swords when he fires his gun, Showdown where he unleashes a flurry of slashes with Yamato, and he gets Maximum Bet which fires a slash wave. Dante's Stinger is powered up to drill into enemies, his Kick 13 turns into a super combo from Street Fighter. SHIPPU JINRAIKU! And Pin up fires more blades out. Wow, I wrote a LOT on gameplay. There is a lot to say though. As a last note, I'd like to point out that Dante is THE HARDEST BOSS IN THE ENTIRE GAME! And that's appropriate due to the fact that Vergil was the final boss in the third game and a major boss in the first one as well. Dante will murder you over and over again. Get lots of Holy Water cause you're gonna need it!

Devil May Cry 4 (Playstation 3)

Created: 09/06/08
This is my first DMC game. I bought it because of people's review on gamespot and I think "hm, probably worth a try now I have a PS3". A "M" rating is not exaggerating - it's the most appropriate rating I have seen so far. Lots of games out there is not obeying this rule, you see.

Graphics is good (7.7/10), actions are good (8.5/10), the arsenal of Nero and Dante are good (9/10), storyline is good (9/10), but the soundtrack is...hm... a bit disappointing (6/10). I am not a rock pop fans, and this industrialized hard-metal is not quite my taste. but I told myself "well it's demonic situation so that's acceptable"

Graphics: I am on mission 10 now, and not much glitches I'd seen. Interesting though, in some cutscene when some characters are slashed or so, you see blood flying all over but their clothes still intact. Would be better if that's a little more realistic. Viewing angles can be horrible - normally you can use L1/2 or R1/2 to change viewing angles, but here you use R3; not the most convenient location when your R thumb is so occupied with combos. Well, I am a newbie to the series, so maybe that's why.

Action: combos usually can be executed without problems and the effect of the combos reflect the force of that demonic hand and the sword (in some similar games, even though the weapons look massive, somehow those combos cannot convey you to believe those weapons are steel and not plastic)

Arsenal: in some other games where the player can collect guns and swords throughout the game, they lack style. Those weapons look all too similar to one another. Here the weapons all have very distinct features.

Storyline: few twists and turns, plus the languages it uses, make the whole development - how should I put it - funny and interesting enough but still has its brutal and seriousness and dark theme in it.

Overall, I highly recommend this game to all gamers that loves kick-butt actions and an intact storyline. Simply a must-have. I just bought the others in the DMC series, so I guess that tells you how much I love this game.

Great PS3 Action Title

Created: 21/03/09
This is the first game in the Devil May Cry series that I have played so I am not sure how it compares to the previous games. As a whole, Devil May Cry 4 is a great, solid action game that combines puzzle, platform, action, and fighting all in one game.

The combo system is great, you are ranked on how you dispatch of your enemies; basically, the quicker you kill them, the better you do. This game is basically a button masher, but some of the combos require a bit of timing. Since the action is a huge portion of the game it has to be good, but it is great. I don’t want to give any parts of the story away so I will just mention this briefly; you start the game as Nero (who looks a lot like Dante), but halfway through the game you play as Dante. This frustrated me a bit because I was finally comfortable with Nero’s fighting style and then I was forced to get used to somebody else’s. Devil May Cry 4 plays a lot like Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), although I liked Ninja Gaiden better. The combos in Devil May Cry require more button mashing then they do in Ninja Gaiden, but it is still fun. After each level you earn points which allow you to "buy" new skills and abilities to use.

Graphically, Devil May Cry 4 looks great, especially the environments. Everything is very detailed; you can tell Capcom put a lot of work into this game. A lot of the environments are dark and moody and look very cool. The story is interesting and convoluted; I think most people will enjoy it. I thought that the music was good and added to the overall atmosphere of the game.

If you have a Playstation 3 and are dying for a good action game, Devil May Cry 4 should be your first choice.

Pros:
- Fast paced action.
- Great combo system.
- Excellent graphics.

Cons:
- None

Demon slaying at its best!

Created: 06/07/08
This game is absolutely phenomenal!

I chose to buy it because I was such a large fan of the earlier material. This game certainly crosses the inter-system gap with ease. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is smooth and stylish, and the levels and enemies are just what you'd expect from this gothic masterpiece.

It's not hard at all to create awesome combos and make this game look good. That's the best part of this whole game: the way it looks. Stylish!

If you are a veteran DMC fan, then you will certainly love this next installment.
And if you aren't a fan, then you will become one.
