Album Notes
Personnel: Joe C. (rap vocals); Kenny Olson (guitar); Jason Krause (electric guitar); Jimmy Bones (keyboards); Stefanie Eulinberg (drums); Tweeds Kracker (turntables); Misty Love, Shirley Hayden (background vocals).Audio Mixers: David Bottrill; Kid Rock; Al Sutton.Photographers: Randy G.; Joseph Cultice. In the grand tradition of Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc. genre-hopper Kid Rock chooses to lay down his raps over a bed of rock-oriented electric guitar riffs instead of traditional hip-hop tracks and beats. Unlike the aforementioned groups though, Kid Rock comes off more like an adventurous hip-hopper than a rocker with a Public Enemy jones. In an effort to prove himself as "street" as his more conventional rap peers, Rock combines his rockish arrangements with gangsta-derived lyrics full of boasts and sexual braggadocio. DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE will appeal to both rock fans in search of something different and hip-hop listeners who like a little rock in their rap.

Devil Without A Cause - Kid Rock

I bought this for just (1) song - (Only God Knows Why) couldn't seem to find it anywhere else - too much swearing in the rest of it - I love Hank, Jr. and since Kid Rock & he teamed up on a crossroads tv special - I now love Kid Rock too. (not the swearing rap stuff though)- I think he has a unique voice and when he does slower more meaning songs like (Picture/w Cheryl Crow) he is awesome - My husband & I are entertainers our selves and we actually recorded Picture together on our home recording studio - Anyway this is why I bought this CD. Thanks, Jan S.

what happened to kid rock?

Created: 27/01/11
I relly like Kid Rock. Three of his albums are mong my favorites, devil without a cause, cocky, and Rock n Roll Jesus. Although Rock and Roll Jesus was very different type of album for the most part, it was still damn good.

Now we come to Born Free. To me, Born Free songs sound like the rejects that never made it on Rock n Roll Jesus, and for good reason too. The music souinds all the same. Almost all the songs sound like lamo copies of rr Jesus. The Lyrics do show that rock can write, but the lazy, uninspired music makes it impo9ssible to even apprecitate the words.

Even though he is older, I think Rock should go back and listen to Devil without a cause and remember what sold him 15 million copies.

Title was appropriate

I have no real qualms about my Kid Rock cd purchase. I received the cd in super fast timing and the cd had all the songs that were expected to be on the cd. I was only slightly disappointed with the presentation of the cd. I didn't expect the cd to appear so obviously as a burned cd with a handwritten list of song titles as the cover. Other than that, I purchased the cd because I like Kid Rock's blend of country, pop, and rap, but, whew, didn't know that the cd was so vulgar. I should have asked if this was a clean version of the Kid Rock cd.

Devil without a cause is Kid Rock at his very best. His unique blend of rock and rap made him one of the biggest things to Detroit in quite a while. I actually know this entire album word for word. With sales of over 7 million and maybe 8 you don't what to be left out. This cd is one of the ten things I would choose if stranded on an island. YOU NEED THIS.
