Diamonds Are Forever

I wanted this particular Sean Connery James Bond flick Diamonds Are Forever as a classic not think to hard funny Bond film of the era. What starts with Bond taking on International Diamond smuggling leads to a plot by Ernst Stavros Blofeld to dominate the entire world with a laser super weapon.Much of the movie is set in 1960s Las Vegas where Blofeld kidnaps and takes on the identity of casino tycoon Wylard White to enable the acquiring and building of the super weapon.Playing alongside Bond are the two lovely actresses Jill St.John and Lana Wood as Plenty Otoole.Altogether a classic funny and not think to hard enjoyable Bond film with a great cast and Bond twists. Especially look for the crazy real stunt car chase with the hot orange mustang through the streets of night time Las Vegas .Lots of fun.

Connery returns as 007 in 1971

I remember there was tremendous excitement back in 1971 when Connery returned to play Bond in DAF since his last Bond film (You Only Live Twice, 1967). George Lazenby (OHMSS, 1969) left us all disappointed with his wooden performance and limited acting experience. Poor fellow - nobody could successfully follow up in the role, directly after Connery. DAF is actually the first genuinely campy, almost cartoonish Bond film in which the franchise is goofing on itself (Tiffany: "You know who you just killed, you killed James Bond!", not to mention two cartoonish villains. The story is convoluted, does not make much sense; there are holes and flaws and the infamous error of the car exiting the alley balanced on the WRONG side. Nonetheless it is a genuinely fun film to see. Connery, though more aged and out-of-shape than we were used to seeing, does lots of his own athletic stunts. And he has an unparalleled command of witty dialog, non-stop with clever one-liners, puns, and double entendres. The soundtrack and title song are terrific. I like it as a comedic fun Bond film. It set the stage for Roger Moore's campy interpretation for his 12-year stint as Bond. It should not be compared to the classic, almost realistic Bond thriller "From Russia With Love", which is Connery's (and mine) favorite Bond film.

Sean is the one-and-only

In this new world of untalented garbage, I only buy old-fashioned quality as I come upon it. Sean Connery as James Bond is one of the hand-picked quality selection worth it. 60's are the best in movies, Bond is best of movies, Sean is best of Bond. Period.

Plenty of action scenes, such as the oil rig scenes. Another excellent 007 movie with probably the best 007 actor.
