    Publisher's Note
Drawing on more than two hundred original interviews and written with the full cooperation of the late princess's estate, this richly illustrated portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales relates her story through her own words and the commentary of others and includes nearly five hundred images, many never before published.

The tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales, shook the world. No one who lived through those days in the late summer of 1997 will ever forget the unprecedented outpourings of grief, shock, and anger that followed. And in the days leading up to her funeral, it seemed as if the whole of humanity had spontaneously united to mourn her loss. But who was this young woman who had come to symbolize so much to so many? How was it that she could reach out to touch lives not only of whole communities but individuals, too? What lay behind her inspiration-and what will be the lasting impact of her legacy?

No book yet written about Diana has come close to the person so many people speak of as having been a beacon of light in their lives. Here, for the first time, is the Diana that many of those closest to her knew.

Written with the full cooperation of the late princess's estate, Diana: The Portrait tells Diana's story through her own words and the words of people, both famous, and, until now, unknown. Beautifully designed, it is a lavishly illustrated with nearly 500 images of Diana, including many pictures never previously published, taken from sources including the Spencer family archive, the Althorp Museum, the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund archive, and the private collections of the friends, charities, and individuals whose lives she touched.

Drawing on over 200 original interviews, including those of family members and friends, many of whom have never spoken before, this remarkable book will stand as a unique and lasting testament to the life and work of one of the extraordinary and enduring icons of the 20th century.

    Diana: The Portrait

    Created: 07/04/11
Diana: The Portrait is a fitting tribute to one of the 20th centuries most fascinating and enduring people. With hundreds of wonderful pictures and stories from people who knew her, it presents a wonderful homage of her life.

As someone who had the privilege of meeting her in London October 8th of 1992, I find this to be a cherished part of my home library.

Any fan of Princess Diana will truly enjoy this book.

    Diana the Portrait Hardcover Book

This is a wonderful book chronicling Diana's life! This book was written with the full cooperation of her estate. It is absolutely beautiful, with many awesome color photos! There are interesting writings; including many from Diana herself (in her own handwriting). "Diana the Portrait" begins with her birth and continues on through the years until her tragic death. This is a great "coffee table book" to share with friends and family. Foreward by Nelson Mandela. I would highly recommend this book.

    Diana the Portrait

    Created: 22/02/11
I'm going to enjoy this book immensely. It's a 10" x 14" hardcover. The book & book jacket are a crisp, elegant, bright white. It's quite heavy & 368 pages. Included were 5 proof sets of postage stamps. At the front of the index is
an extensive list of the organizations & their websites, to which she was involved. It has lots of pictures and much reading to enjoy as well.
The text is a bit small, an 8 font I believe. The photos came from many contributors, a few of them are a little grainy. Don't let that dissuade you, it's an awesome book.

    A coffee-table book fit for a princess...

    Created: 30/05/09
Bought for my grandmother and uncle who were moved by Lady Di...this is a gorgeous, exhaustive coffee-table book about Diana's life, from her humbler beginnings to her marriage to and subsequent divorce from Prince Charles, to her tragic death. The photographs are stunning, but my personal favorite is the foldout of the Spencer lineage. Recommended for any admirer of the late Princess of Wales.
