A true metal masterpiece, the record features Randy Rhoads (previously in Quiet Riot). DIARY and its successors showed that Ozzy could not only make it on his own, but exceed his former bandmates in popularity."Over The Mountain" rumbles in and features the often imitated-never duplicated soloing of Randy Rhoads. The man is arguably the most influential guitarist in heavy rock besides Eddie Van Halen. "Flying High Again" follows, and is Ozzy's ode to non-stop partying. "Tonight" is a wonderful ballad, showing Randy's tasteful restraint. "S.A.T.O." is vintage Osbourne, with metal riffage only he can deliver. The title track begins with beautiful electric and acoustic guitar overdubs, and concludes the record with bombast. It is clear the Ozzman is at his peak on this album. Ozzy will never be considered a "singer's singer," and his penchant for biting the heads off live animals may overshadow his musical abilities. But albums like DIARY show why he will forever be the Godfather of Heavy Metal.

Ozzy and Randy and their finest !

Created: 05/03/06
What a shame that this was Randy Rhoads last album before his tragic death.

Quite possibly the greatest Ozzy recordings that have ever been - strongest recommendation.

Ozzy's voice is perfect as is the band. This album has incredible musical range and can never tire.

Songs Are:

Over the Mountain

Flying High Again

You Can't Kill Rock And Roll

Believer

Little Dolls

Tonight

S.A.T.O

Diary Of A Madman

Bass player Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake filed lawsuits demanding royalties over their performances in two Ozzy Osbourne albums, "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman" the 2002 remastered albums have their performances replaced with Robert Trujillo and Mike Bordin - try to find the originals to truely appreciate this album.

Remastered DIARY OF A MADMAN.

Created: 05/01/09
I actually forgot OZZY and Sharon(sic)re-recorded this lp using a different back-up section. Although worthy as a "touring band",it just does not come close to the original lp that was recorded using Daisley and the drummer from Uriah Heep. The original recording was "heavier" and had more punch sounding like metal. When DIARY first came out,I actually never bought it. All my friends had it,so,I was awestruck by the guitar mastery of RANDY RHODES. It is very sad that Ozzy/Sharon never gave Daisley the credit he deserved as a truly great bassist. Just listen to RAINBOW/LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL. That is him on the bass. Anyway,it just shows how all the dope twisted their minds and clouded their hearts about this classic metal record.

Great Ozzy-Randy Rhoads CD

Created: 05/05/08
The two Ozzy Osbourne albums featuring Randy Rhoads have always been favorites of mine, especially "Diary of a Madman". I originally had this album, and "Blizzard of Oz" on cassette, which have deteriorated in sound quality over the years. Wanting to hear these albums in thier original quality, I decided to get them on CD, and they sound great. I got both off of ebay at a reasonable price. A live version of "I Don't Know" is included as a bonus track at the end of the CD. If you are an Ozzy or Randy Rhoads fan, and don't already have these CD's, get them.

Momma's gonna worry. I been a bad bad boy!

Created: 03/07/07
This is the last album recorded with Randy Rhoads before he died. Randy kicked ass! Instead of going into the glum of Randys' death, I am just gonna write some good listens. F___ it! The entire album rocks. There is just no sense in writing the names of every song on the album. I love the old Ozzy stuff. I will ALWAYS be a fan of our disfunctional Prince of Fn' Darkness! How can you not love Ozzy? Buy the album. You won't be dissapointed. And if you are.... well lets just hope Ozzy doesn't leave a bat head on your front door! (LOL!) Enjoy!
