Directv HR24 Receiver

One thing I like about this receiver is its sleek design. With a touch interface front panel, there are no buttons but instead a fee illuminated lights.
It has HDMI outputs and also an Optical for sound.
I've experienced a few problems, particularly with the remote. Not sure if it's the RF setup but it seems to lag and at times, fails to work at all. Unplugging te receiver to reboot is the only way I've found to temporarily solve this problem.
Overall, I like the receiver for it's features, clean look and overall performance.

I own and use the HR-20, HR-22, HR-23, and now the HR-24. The HR-24 is soooo much faster than the previous models. Using the Guide/Info function and changing channels is so much faster now. The HR-24 front display panel has been re-worked and now has dimmer blue touch sensitive buttons. The annoying overly bright blue LED lights are gone!

If you want a DirecTV HD DVR go with the HR-24 over the HR-23 or older models. You won't regret it.

Well I purchased this receiver because number 1 I was up-grading my satellite system. Number 2 all of the reviews I had read about this SUPER receiver were excellent! For example: the response time when you press the buttons on the remote and the instant response on the screen! The large 500 GB HD is also a plus as well as the beautiful styling with the dark color and slim profile! I wish I could tell you more,but I haven't activated the system yet,because I have other upgrades to make to my media system. I will follow up in the very near future to describe in detail picture quality for SD and HD recordings!!

I love it!!!!! It's been as describe this is my second. It of this type. I also have a 22hr Dvr but the difference are from earth to sky. Absolutely you can not compare. And I will recommend this receiver to everybody that will like to have the prefer show recorded. Also it will help not only with picture but also wit the sound of your HDTV and if you have any soundround equipment then it will be much better no doubts about that. You will never regret to get this equipment I perssonnly call this the best equipment in the market

For the outrageous prices they charge to "lease" these receivers, they should be much, much better. The HR 24 is of the same cheap build and lack of features as the older Directv receivers, but this one pages through the guide quicker (whoopie) and has a better remote that can be set for RF operation and gets automatically programmed to better control other components.

All Directv receivers are inexcuseably bad, this one included. And the lease arrangement they have where they still own the receiver even after you pay an inflated price to buy it should be illegal. But they have a monopoly on Sunday Ticket, so what else can you do?
