) I bought this as a replacement for the DTV 301 I had before. I owned it for several years with the only problem being the remote. It quit working after a few years so I bought a generic remote. The DTV receiver worked fine for years and I think a lightning storm wrecked it. I am happy with the replacement I bought on ebay and after the initial install and calls to Dish Network to get it activated and a new card, I have had no problems. I don't think this receiver has all the features of the newer versions but I wouldn't use them anyway.

) I needed another receiver so that i could add a TV on my patio which is covered by a roof,now i can sit outside and watch my sports while my wife watches her shows inside.You just have to call dish and while they are on phone and you are with the receiver and TV they upgrade receiver at no cost,as they need you to turn receiver off and on, they guide you through the upgrade,"what ever you do,do not throw card away that comes with receiver as they need this for the upgrade".

I decided to buy it because i needed a new receiver it works great, i like it because it's a newer model than the other one that I have the only problem that i have is that it was a single receiver and not a double however that was a mistake on my part.
