The kitschy sets of old have been discarded and David Tennant takes over from Christopher Eccleston as the 10th incarnation of the Doctor. Former pop star Billie Piper remains at the Doctor's side, playing his assistant, Rose, and a vast array of villains and intergalactic troublemakers face them as they zip through the galaxy in the Tardis. This time out, Queen Victoria and the Cybermen come face to face with Tennant's Doctor, and longstanding fans of the show will be delighted to see the robotic dog K9 returning. Doctor Who- The Complete Second Series

Created: 04/03/11
AMAZING! This series continues after where Christopher Eccleston left off to now follow David Tennent as the 10th incarnation of the protagonist of the BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who". The Doctor is a centuries-old alien humanoid of sorts from the planet called Gallifrey. He travel through time and space and parallel worlds in his spaceship called the TARDIS, most often with his "companions". The companions tend to be young, attractive women who help move the narrative along from a more humanistic point of view. Because the Doctor is a "man of different faces", he can regenerate his body whenever he is injured or close to death. This leads to different personalities, (and different women as well). In this series, actress/singer Billie Piper continues her role as the fresh-faced 20-something year old Rose Tyler. Together they the return of the Daleks and and even larger battle: love.

Good series to start on!

Doctor Who is a BBC produced show and is now one of my favorites on television! Too bad it's only on cable network like BBC America and Syfy here in the states.

For those who don't know Doctor Who, he is a humanoid alien, the last of the Timelords, nine hundred years old and can travel space and time with his spaceship that looks like a blue police telephone box. He regenerates when he needs to, hence the different actors who've played him.

The second series is the first series with the tenth actor to play the Doctor, David Tennant. Tennant is by far my favorite! He is hilarious and charismatic as the Doctor, and sparks fly with Rose (Billie Piper) as his companion. I started watching Doctor Who with the second series, and I had no problem whatsoever being able to catch on to what was going on. Each episode has its own story, with a couple two-parters, kind of like The Twilight Zone but with the same main characters. I eventually backtracked later when I finished the three David Tennant series and I liked Christoper Eccleston as the Doctor as well, but if you've never seen Doctor Who before and you want to check it out, I think this is the perfect season to start on!

Doctor who second season

Created: 08/04/08
This was not an easy purchase. This was a bit of money even though it was a good price. I purchased it because I have watched the doctor since I was a child. The entire story line of traveling through time and space is just great. The doctors all have different ways to deal with their problems which is what has keeps it so interesting for decades. I was lucky enough to obtain season one from my parents as a birthday gift and just couldn't help my self with season two. I watch atleast an episode a day and as i go to sleep. The new doctors are truly fantastic. Christopher Eccleston just brought a entire new world with his character and sad enough to see him go it was hard to accept David Tennent, but once again we are not disappointed. He is truely FANTASTIC! The continuing character support with billie piper (rose) is just fantastic. The ending of the second season just rips you apart. I can't rate this show anything less then a ten out of ten for everything from drama, suspense, love, mystery, stories, comedy, etc. Anyone who would enjoy sci fi, action, adventure, comedy will not be dissapointed. the sound and visuals are top notch and you are always left begging for more. I will obtain season 3 soon enough with martha jones.

A series to please classic "Who" fans!

Created: 02/05/07
I grew up watching the old Doctor Who on PBS when I was in grade school. When I heard that BBC was 'rebooting' the series I was happy, yet cautious. Will we see the classic villains? Will there be ties to the old series? Will it be any good? The answer two all three questions is a resounding YES!

The first of the new series blew me away, and the second series tops even that. While I miss Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, David Tennant ably fills his shoes. He and Billie Piper as Rose have a great chemistry. The first series re-introduced classic Who villains the Daleks, and the second series brings back the Cybermen, even more formidable and ominous than ever. Plus, Sarah Jane Smith and K-9 make an appearance! "Who" could ask for more? :-) I can't wait to see series three!

New Newbie to Doctor Who

Created: 16/10/10
I grew up with Sir Graves Gastley, The Ghoul, & Star Trek and thought I had seen the best that Sci Fi had to offer. Boy was I wrong. I stumbled onto Doctor who mid was thru the second series 2005 and I was hooked. I continued to watch and am still watching now. David Tennent was Great as the Doctor, and Billy Piper s Rose, well that was a match made in heaven. The Dialog, the Effects, the Story Line, it is all Great. I found myself wanting to go back to the beginning and finally had a chance to view some of the Chris Eccleston episodes, and found myself wishing he could have had a second season for himself. I watch and re-watch these episodes with delight. I wanted to have them for my own, and made the unfortunate purchase of a set from a seller in California, only to find out that the first 2 seasons were burns from BBC TV, not the actual releases. And to add to my pain, they wouldn't play in my Blue Ray Player. this thing plays everything, but wouldn't play these. 4 DVD players later, I finally found one that would play them. After that, I decided that I love this Series enough to make the financial commitment to purchase the original Releases, and dump the set I already had. If you like a Great Story, with GREAT characters, and great story lines, this is the Series for you. The 5th Season thus far is O.K., but I don't find myself as thrilled to watch, and stay in tune. The New Doctor does a good enough job, but I guess when you have grown accustom to a certain Actor, its not the same when they are changed out. I will still keep watching though.
