Don Knotts: Reluctant Hero (DVD, 2004)

Loved watching Don Knotts in the old Andy Griffith Show. And his movies are just as good, if not better. The DVD's I got are The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, The Shakiest Gun in the West, The Reluctant Astronaut, and The Love God. They are all wonderful movies and I also recommend, The Apple Dumpling Gang and Hot Lead, Cold Feet. You would not be disappointed.

Four Classic Movies starring Don Knotts as the shaky weak gullible guy with a big macho ego and dangerous karate hands who always winds up in a mess.

The Ghost & Mr. Chicken Knotts plays the wanna be star reporter for a hick newspaper, when he gets his big story evidence don't add up and he finds himself the laughing stock of his beloved hometown, by accident however he finds himself redeemed and the star he always dreamed of being.

Knotts finds global fame as the The Love God when his struggling Bird Lovers Publication nears financial ruin only to be ressurected by some porn publishers who use Knotts unknowingly as a front man for their shady operation.

The other two movies are just as good so anyone who loves 1960's style comedy will love this four pack filled with laughs.

When I heard that Don Knotts had died all I could seem to find with him it is was the Andy Griffith Show. But, after looking a bit deeper for movies of his like "Mr. Limpet" and "The Ghost & Mr. Chicken" I found this dvd package. Since I couldn't find many of his movies to rent I thought I would just "nip it in the bud" and buy this set of dvd's, and I was not disapointed. I really like the "Ghost and Mr. Chicken", but the "Shakiest Gun in the West" was also a very pleasant suprise. I would reccomend this dvd set to anyone who enjoys Don Knotts on t.v., as well as other great movies he has been in, namely, "Pleasantville" which is one of my all time favorites. The only reason I could not give this set an excellent rating is because I thought that the Mr. Limpet movie should have been included, rather than one of the others, or with the others as well. A great actor and great movies know no time frame, and these will all last for generations to come.

Great picture quality, and sound. Nice to have all the classic Don Knotts movies on one disk (2 movies per side of the DVD).
If you like Widescreen format, you'll Love this collection. The Menu is simple and easy to navigate through. The scene selection works fine as-well.

There is no booklet included with this set, but that is fine, considering the price (it goes for roughly $20.00 retail; I paid under $16.00 for this collection).
Don Knotts fans will be VERY pleased that they can finally have four of the hard to get classic's on one disc.

Very good value. Don Knotts four best movies for the price of one. I was looking at buying two movies, "The Reluctant Astronaut' and "the ghost and Mr. Chicken" This set had these and two other for less that I would have paid for one movie.
