Album Notes
Aerosmith: Steven Tyler (vocals, harmonica, piano); Joe Perry (guitar, background vocals); Brad Whitford (guitar); Tom Hamilton (bass); Joey Kramer (drums).Recorded at Fantasy Recording, Berkley, California; Can-Am Recorders, Tarzana, California; The Power Station, New York, New York.Personnel: Steven Tyler (vocals, harmonica, piano); Joe Perry (guitar, background vocals); Brad Whitford (guitar); Joey Kramer (drums).Audio Mixer: Jeff Hendrickson.Recording information: Can-AM Recorders, Tarzana, CA; Fantasy Recording, Berkeley, CA; The Power Station, NY.Photographer: Jim Shea. After starting off the '80s on the wrong foot because of personnel defections, changing music trends, and various personal and business problems, the original Aerosmith line-up reunited for 1985's DONE WITH MIRRORS. Produced by Van Halen/Montrose knob-twirler Ted Templeman, MIRRORS is a bare-bones Aerosmith record that was last the band recorded without the benefit of outside songwriters. The results range from the rhythmically slinky "Shela" to the funky boogie of "The Hop." Elsewhere, songs such as the hard-hitting "My Fist Your Face" and the slide guitar-drenched "She's on Fire" show the band was able to shake the rust off after almost six years apart. The truest sign that the spark of classic Aerosmith still burned deep is a cover of "Let the Music Do the Talking." Originally recorded by the Joe Perry Project, this interpretation is a runaway train of pounding rhythms, screaming guitars, and Steven Tyler's fiery harp blowing and a jive-talking delivery.

This is "The Comeback" album, not Permanent Vacation.

Created: 04/10/08
This album got the shaft, bigtime. The band got back together with all original members after several bandmates left due to many issues, both personal and industry related. They got back together and under the production of the legendary Ted Templeman, made the best Aerosmith album of the 80's and 90's. Forget "Vacation", Forget "Pump", they are all pop-rocks packaged for candy stores and kiddies. Done With Mirrors doesn't even have a ballad on it... Not One!!! Awesome. Just Rock, Blues and high gain. Not one bad song... Not One!!! I've always wished that Aerosmith would have put out a side two to Done With Mirrors... An album of the exact same vain... alas... they have not... I hope they pull some songs of this one for the Guitar Hero/Rock Band Series... The lil' punks won't know what hit 'em. MY FIST, YOUR FACE, AND THAT'S FOR SURE!!!!!!

Not The usual Aerosmith

Created: 30/11/09
I bought this cd Done with Mirrors expecting another great musical cd and excellent vocals by Steven Tyler, but I've listened to the cd 5 times in entirety and I'm still not impressed. I can see
after this release why they incorporated songwriters to help them along. I like all music since it is art, but I rate this one below average because Aerosmith is better than this. In all their live music they never play any songs from this cd and its very clear why. As an Aerosmith collector I needed this cd to add to my growing collection, but this one will probably just be collecting dust LOL. I hope Honkin on Bobo is better since I plan on it being my next purchase. I only paid $1 and $3 shipping, but I would'nt have been too happy had I spent any more on it. Hope this helps somebody's decision about how much this cd is worth.

let the music do the talking

Most of this disc was recorded while in treatment, and this is a very underrated disc.Which goes to show that Steven Tyler can write some awesome music all drugged out or sober as can be.
