Door to Door (DVD, 2002)

This inspiring movie tells the story of salesman Bill Porter, who came into contact with many people during his decades of knocking on doors. Porter, suffering from cerebral palsy, didn't allow his condition to stop him from pursuing a career, and his story touched the hearts and lives of many of his potential customers. A wonderful and heart-warming film.

William H.Macy plays his charchter seemlesly and endears you right from the start. Being this is a true Story of Bill Porter and his drive and determination to overcome his own challenges despite his handicap, the world and what it thinks of him...He forges on and takes you through this story with compasion and a certain tenacity not easily found in people today. Yes, there was a time when the world was a kinder place; perhaps not for long, but for those who lived it, even in those years there were certainly chalenges to face, and daily drama, however the fundamental belife in himself gifted by his mother and obviously obstacles of growing up... he rises victoriuosly based on his principals, not on the flimsy platform of what is a better "career today" attitude. This is a film based on the Human sprit
that lifts you up and makes you want to be a better person no matter who you are. A wonderfull film too often overlooked. We need more "Bill Poters" on earth. Lots of them!

Talk about determination, patience and persistence! Bill Porter may have cerebral palsy but he has so much more - great sense of humour, sweet spirit and a purpose in life. He may have suffered some hard knocks in life but uses those life lessons and goes door-to-door providing not only a service but an connection with people and precious friendships. Truly inspirational!

Could have done without the occasional swear word.

William Macy is simply great in a very endearing portrayal of a real life success story. With his mothers support Bill Porter struggled against difficult odds to make it in a tough door to door sales career. While physically challenged Bill was never mentally or physcologically challenged, his spirit prevailed. This movie gives you a lift.

This movie brings out every emotion you could imagine. It's not only a wonderful movie but I think William Macy is the only person that could've played this part and brought the character out as he did. I think this should if it didn't, win an award. Got to see this movie, it's for everyone. Seen this at least 3 times and I'm buying it, it's a classic to us.
