A TIMELESS CLASSIC

This is by far one of the best Horror genre films of all time. The original DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE (1932) Clearly outshines any and all films before and since. The Direction, sets and above all ,the supreme acting, makes this a film for all true movie affectionados. Most movies made prior to 1939 (After the classics THE WIZARD OF OZ and GONE WITH THE WIND) seem dated and often times overacted. This film remains an example of a film way ahead of it's time. Shocking content (mostly restored footage) can still shock after 70 years. The commentary contained on this DVD is excellent.
Do yourself a favor if you have never experienced this film...BUY this version. It will not disappoint!

I have always been a fan of the story of Jekyll and Hyde and also the movies. This dvd has the two best adaptations of the story on one dvd! Was an excellent investment, the movies are unparallel, especially the 1932 version in my opinion. Definitely a great dvd by all means.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Both of these versions are done with excellent script and casting. Although, the Spencer Tracy edition seems more realistic due to him looking more "human" than the F. March one, I would still recommend both these editions for your enjoyment and collection.

Stevenson's classic as it should be

Both versions are fairly loyal to the book - insofar as movies can be. It is hard for any two actors to deliver better performances than Tracy and Bergman. The 41 version is, in my view, far superior to the 32 version. But the 32 version is good, too.
