    Movie synopsis

An updating of the classic police show of the 1950s, DRAGNET '67 featured color photography and grappled with the many issues facing the nation during the period. Creator and main star Jack Webb returned as Sgt. Joe Friday, the hard-nosed, no-nonsense cop who only wanted the facts. Like the earlier program, DRAGNET '67 dramatized cases taken directly from the files of the LAPD, presented in a hard-boiled, realistic fashion--rumor has it that the department used episodes of the show for training purposes. In the 17 episodes of SEASON ONE, Friday and his partner Bill Gannon (Harry Morgan) have to deal with a bomb plot, kidnappings, robberies, corrupt cops, murders, and an LSD-addicted teen in a particularly famous episode. DRAGNET '67 was a worthy follow-up to the original, which had set the pattern for every cop show to follow.

If you enjoy the series, you definitely need to get those with Harry Morgan...to me he was Friday's best partner. He helped add a touch of humor to some of the storylines that were very serious.

You could say this series is a precursor to the many detective shows today, especially the was the characters interact with each other. Very entertaining, you won't be disapointed!

I like the gritty, hard nosed aspect of crime fighting and consider it a small version of 24 (the TV series with Kiefer Sutherland) but in just a one hour episode. Everything gets resolved in one hour instead of 24 episodes (like the series 24).

I remember watching Dragnet reruns as a kid. I liked the show because it showed the realities that police faced. Even though the show didn't show blood or gore like todays police shows, you got a sense of all types of crimes that occurred...and what the detectives had to go through to solve the crime....without DNA or hi-tech computers. Good watching!

    DRAGNET IS BACK!

    Created: 23/09/08
After watching previous episodes in black and white, the colorized shows look much different, but are just as wonderful to watch. I guess it depends in what era you were born. Black and white is fine with me, color is even better. I love seeing the dressing styles and automobiles in these old shows.

Cons: Maybe sound quality is a little lacking, but not really so you'd notice. It's hard to say anything negative about Dragnet.

I would recommend this show, these episodes, to ANYONE!

I rate this show at #3 in my list of the top ten tv cop shows in history. Jack Webb was a phenomenal actor and I don't believe he got enough credit in Hollywood as a great tv star.
