Very helpful to an experienced artist!

I bought this book because I wanted to "reteach" myself how to draw. I have a degree in Illustration but through time & kids, haven't picked up a pencil in over 10 years. I was rusty, so I decided to buy Hammonds books. I began with one of her Realistic Drawing books which was general and it really helped. After a couple weeks, I was ready to start drawing my kids from photographs. I wanted to learn her techniques more, so I bought this book. It's helped me fine tune a talent that I had forgotten over the years. Her descriptions are very easy to follow, she lists supplies to buy which was very helpful. I like how she breaks down the parts of a photograph starting with the nose. It didn't make me feel overwhelmed. Very worth it! Don't know how helpful it would be to someone just learning but to someone who went to college for this, it was very helpful and easy to follow. Well worth the money!

Drawing with Lee Hammond
Created: 15/10/08
Having already looked through the instruction book at a local craft store, I knew I wanted it, but not at their prices. Lee Hammond is my pencil portrait artist idol. The book was everything I expected and more. I loved getting it on e-Bay because I was able to buy at least four other drawing instruction books for the price of one at a craft store. Love shopping e-Bay!

Lee Hamond's drawing are lifelike

I love this book. I have the author's book on portrait painting with acrylics and it is excellent also.
Lee Hamond goes into great detail and tells you exactly what you need to do and tells you what tools you need to do the drawing/painting.
I decided to buy this book because I like her portrait painting book so well

How to Draw Lifelike Portraits- great for beginners!
Created: 27/01/09
i bought this for my daughter's boyfriend who is learning to draw. he draws wonderful airplanes, cars and such, but, wants to learn the human figure. i saw this book at hobby lobby first and thought it was very informative and clear and gave beautiful illustrations and explanations on the anatomy of a face....at the same time giving ideas of how to start to draw the face...by using photographs rather than by real life models which i think would be more difficult. i would highly recommend this book to any beginner.
