Elizabeth who just split from her husband, ends up going back home to mom. She comes across one of her childhood toys, a Jack-in-the-box, which was the very same one her frustrated mother imprisoned her childhood "imaginary" friend Fred, many years ago. Low and behold Elizabeth now opens the box, and out springs Fred with 21 years of pranks stored up!

This film stars Rik Mayall (Rick on the british tv comedy "The Young Ones") Phoebe Cates ("Date With An Angel") Movie begins with a young, drab, but cute Lady on her way back to work following lunch..her life seems to spiral out of control in walks her very controlling Mother..she brings her home where she returns to her old room and finds a fav childhood toy that has been taped shut she opens it and releases both her worst nightmare and bestfriend...Fred! a funloving if not a bit maniacal invisible Friend..he gets her into trouble, makes fun of her and in the end is the only one there really for her..everyone should have an invisible friend...

Very Funny Movie

I Brought this movie Drop Dead Fred for my 2 year old daughter. I noticed that for her to be a child, she sat thru the entire move. One day I was flipping thru HBO and stopped at that channel and it caught her immediate attention. Both me and my daughter love this movie, It's Funny and will have you laughing thru out the whole movie. If you and your child like to laugh you should definetly purchase Drop Dead Fred

THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!! VERY FUNNY AND BELIEVABLE TO A CERTAIN POINT . I MEAN WE ALL HAD IMAGINARY FRIENDS , RIGHT? LUCKILY OURS WEREN'T AS DESTRUCTIVE OR NAUGHTY!! TONS OF HILARIOUS SCENES AND A MOVIE YOU WON'T EVER FORGET. A MUST HAVE FOR ALL MOVIE LOVERS , PHOEBE CATES IS UNFORGETTABLE AND AFTER SHE GROWS UP AND WANTS TO FORGET ALL ABOUT FRED HE 'POPS' UP AGAIN!! ALOT OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY LOVE THIS MOVIE , I GAVE MY LAST COPY TO MY FRIEND AND HAD TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS PROBABLY THE 10TH COPY I'VE OWNED , I JUST WANT TO SHARE IT WITH EVERYONE!!
