Duma (DVD, 2006)

This is a great family flick, with clean language. It might be a bit scary to very young children, but overall, it is one of the better films we have watched this year. The scenery was excellent, and added to the story line - a family who lives in Africa and runs a farm. The father dies of Cancer shortly after the family adopt a young Cheeta cub who had been orphaned. The mother's attempt to move her son to the city is not successful, and through that experience, the boy realizes the cub must go back to the wild and be with his own kind. The movie is of his journey to take the cub back.

Pretty good story but for an animal person like me, the cheetah made the movie! This cat was better behaved then any I have worked with, though cheetahs are much easier to work with then any other cat. The boy gave performance though his counterpart, the black guy, was actually holding the movie together. Good scenery, excellent view of life in South Africa and good story. Great for kids. Good for animal lovers who like cheetahs.

I purchased the DVD Duma because I had rented it and liked it so much I wanted to own it and enjoy it with others. This is a very well made movie and seems to have all of the clean, family elements that all ages and both sexes appreciate. The movie has wonderful scenery of Africa and the intricacy of relationships between characters. Family, friends and animals. It's not, however, just a kids movie or "chickflick". It brings out so many emotions, from laughter to tears (if you happen to be tender hearted) but it is filled with adventure and "guy stuff", as well. In fact, my husband and 24 year old son both enjoyed the entire movie (very rare).

I think it was a wonderful film for animal lovers and a nice family movie too.
But be warned,there is a death in this film which I found to be extremely sad-be prepared to explain this fact of life to your children if necessary.
Picture quality is wonderful,sound is fantastic. Exciting story you can really get into.
A movie to make you laugh,cry and cheer!
You will want to own your own cheetah after viewing this!! You should walk away from this movie feeling wonderful...
