Dunlop Fuzz Face Distortion Guitar Effect Pedal

The Fuzz Face is a great guitar distortion pedal very famous for being used by Jimi Hendrix.
The best model is it has the transistors NKT275 (germanium transistors) that provides an excellent fuzz.
Other versions incorporate other types of transistors (silicon transistors) and not sound so good, except some models with AC128 transistors (also germanium transistors).

This unit has no smile, but apart from this important omission, the unit has germanium transistors are subject to changes in tone depending on the temp. in the winter these sound better when warmed up to around 70-75 , these also go to mush when its HOT. this unit was compared to a new joe bonamassa fuzzface and a 90's dunlop reissue, they all 3 sounded very ,very similar, all 3 germanium transistors. This fuzzface has the circuit board attached to the switch and is turned with circuitry hidden, this is wrong compared to all other faces. I prefer the first crest audio reissues with bc109c silicon transistors or the new jimi hendrix face with bc108's silicons. i find the silicons have more gain and a better tone than the germanium, but i am in the minority on that one. rock on fuzzhead

I LOVE this tone. It's amazing for Hendrix/Zeppelin and that whole era.

I think a rock guitarist basically needs 3 OD/Distortion pedals. The Hendrix tone, the SRV tone and the insane metal-core tone.

I give this a 5/5 but there are better options from the same company. There are also 3rd party options which work at least as well, if not better. Just require some time and work. This tone is right there for you. If you want the most epic tone and have $200 then go for the high end copper fuzzface.

Excellent pedal. The only thing that i didn't like was the fact that i have to use baterry. Amazing sound.

I expected a better sound. There's no provision for a power supply. I'm disappointed but since I didn't buy in a store I couldn't return it conveniently.
