Album Notes
Kiss: Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar); Gene Simmons (vocals, bass); Peter Criss (vocals, drums).Recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Record Plant, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Robert V. Conte.Personnel: Ace Frehley (vocals, guitar); Paul Stanley (guitar); Peter Criss (drums).Audio Mixer: Jay Messina.Audio Remasterer: Joseph M. Palmaccio.Liner Note Author: Robert V. Conte.Recording information: Electric Lady Studios; Record Plant, New York, NY.Photographer: Francesco Scavullo. For many of the faithful, DYNASTY marks a turning point in the Kiss story. Their first release after the members' solo albums, it was their last outing with drummer Peter Criss (he was on the cover of UNMASKED, but not the tracks within), and Ace Frehley's departure wasn't far off. DYNASTY is an album of some bombast, with slick production, the inevitable nod to disco ("I Was Made For Loving You"), a Stones cover ("2000 Man") and plenty of their trademark hard rock/pop hybrid.Definitely a softer take on the Kiss sound, this was a harbinger of what the '80s would hold for the band--a more radio-friendly style. With the catchy echoing chorus of "Charisma" and the wistful strut of "Magic Touch," Kiss evolved past the Neanderthal stomp of yesteryear and into a new age of slick, sophisticated, and ultimately more lucrative pop mastery.

DYNASTY is KLASSIC KISS

Created: 28/09/09
DYNASTY has stood up to the passing of time! Sure, there are things that will upset die-hard 70s KISS fans. Times were changing and KISS was trying to find their place in the music industry. Paul wrote 'I was made for loving you' because disco was huge and he thought it would be an easy hit...and it was. Don't let the disco/pop vibe fool you. There is some really great, fun, rockin' music on DYNASTY! '2000 man' by the rolling stones is covered beautifully by Ace, 'x-ray eyes' is a great Gene track, and 'dirty livin'is groovy! There are also some strange tunes ala 'charisma' that hearken back to the DESTROYER days. Whatever you like about KISS is equally represented on DYNASTY! Pauls' catchy pop tunes,Ace rockin' a smoking solo, Petes' raspy stylings, and Gene roaring like a comic book villain are all on display!
With the new album and tour coming soon, theres never been a better chance to hear KLASSIC KISS! You'll better appreciate what they've become if you've heard what they were!

With this album you can hear the influence of the Disco era. This is the first album after their solo albums and the first after the complete band effort Love Gun.Peter Criss was on his way out during this album,he was filled in by a studio musician.I personally only like a few songs on this album."Hard Times" from Ace is the best song on the album, followed by "2000 Man".Though Stanleys vocals are always top notch.Dont even bother listening to that garbage song throw on from Criss. Not in my top 5 favorite KIss albums ever..Frank G

Kiss Dynasty

This in my opinion is one of Kiss's best albums. With songs like I Was Made for Lovin You, 2000 man, Sure Know Something, Dirty Livin', and Magic Touch this proves that Kiss could tackle any kind of music that came their way. They did not dissapoint. One of their best albums to date. This album has a slight disco influence to it.

must have for kiss fans

I have heard so many negative reviews about Dynasty that I feel it is time for a positive one. This one is not as bad as some may say. Obviously it is not their best album from the 70's, but you have to remember that they are a live band. The songs in this album are still kiss. On all of their albums one could argue that there are tunes that are, politely put, just fillers. However, what many fans refer to as the "selling out" album, is marketing genius. I Was Made for Loving You and Sure Know Something are relevant tunes for that time in he decade and kept the band in the spotlight for the remainder of the decade. Despite the inner issues in the group at that time, they still pulled off a good album with Dynasty.
