Album Notes
Staind: Aaron Lewis (vocals); Mike Mushok (guitar, background vocals); Johnny "Old School" April (bass, background vocals); Jon Wysocki (drums, background vocals).Recorded at Studio Litho, Seattle, Washington.Personnel: Aaron Lewis (vocals); Mike Mushok (guitar, background vocals); Jon Wysocki (drums, background vocals); Johnny April (background vocals).Audio Mixer: Terry Date.Recording information: Studio Litho, Seattle, WA.Staind's big break came in 1997 when the band opened up for Limp Bizkit in Connecticut. 20 minutes before Staind was to go on, Limp's singer Fred Durst tried to have them kicked off the bill. Fred thought they were Satan worshippers due to the nature of their cover art. After Staind's set, Fred said they were the best live band he'd seen in two years. The rest is history.Produced by Terry Date (Deftones, Pantera) and the band, DYSFUNCTION is a dark, brooding, groove-driven record. There are no pretty ballads or acoustic detours--the record slams from start to finish. Durst helped the band develop their sound and encouraged lead throat Aaron Lewis to sing more and shout less. The result is some fine, powerful vocalizing. Fans of heavy music will relish Staind's cathartic angst and flock to the sonic attack that is DYFUNCTION.

this cd was a favorite in high school and now that i have a new copy of it, it has found its way into my cd player several times a day!!! all the songs are still musically relevant and hold punch, power and energy.. though its not heavy like pantera or lamb of god, this cd has its own type of heavy.. the early days of Nu Metal!!!! rock on!! buy this one!!!!

Staind: Dysfunctional

Created: 01/10/09
This is one of Staind's best albums as it retains their early Metal sound and image. Much like their first alubm. 'Tormented,' distorted guitars and screaching vocals are present, as well as melodic vocals and guitars. It is a very good album to anyone who enjoy Nu Metal, of metal in general. It DOES NOT however resemble Staind's later work (14 Shades of Gray, Chapter V), which is more modern/alternative rock but still gives insight into the developement of their sound.. It is a worthy buy for any fan.

The only bad thing about this cd is the fact that it makes me feel old. Oh the good ole days. Staind could and never will top this cd. I enjoy it everytime I pop it in.
