Dyson DC16 Root 6 Handheld Cleaner

The Dyson DC16 family of handheld vacuums are awesome cleaners. They are light years ahead of other lesser rechargeable handhelds. The claim of not losing suction is true--not just hype. The Animal version has a power driven brush head that improves cleaning on carpet and fabric noticeably. Beware of worn-out batteries, which can cause the vacuum to run erratically, making it seem like something else is wrong with the unit. Having a good battery and charger are top priorities. And it is truly wonderful to see the captured dirt and debris swirling around in the DC16's dust bin, just begging to get out, but it isn't going to!

I bought the Dyson DC16 based on the Dyson reputation. I suppose I thought it would have much greater suction than it does. Compared to the DC31 the DC19 is a 98 pound weakling and not much more powerful than other battery powered hand held vacs that are a fraction of the cost. On the other hand it seems well made and has a generally good feel to it. The canister opens easily for dumping refuse and it's no problem to clean the filters. If the battery lasted longer than 6 minutes I think the ergonomics would make it uncomfortable to use but for quick jobs it seems fine to me. Six minutes seems reasonable enough for the kind of cleaning that I bought it for. If I had it to do again I'd probably go with a cheaper hand held or spring the couple hundred bucks (!) for the DC31 which sounds like a jet engine when you pull the trigger and seems to generate considerable suction.

An excellent product, everything you would expect from a Dyson. Easy to use, easy to empty, the most powerful handheld vacuum I have ever used. Great for automotive cleaning since it is cordless, and powerful.

I my self think the dyson is a great vacuum. I would not by any other vacuum.
The one thing i do is blow out the canister with my air compressor. I notice that a lot of dust can get built up. I am anal though...

DID NOT HAVE CHANCE TO LIKE OR DISLIKE VACUUM AS IT NEVER FUNCTIONED FOR ONE MINUTE. BATTERY POWERED VACUUM DID NOT WORK!! WHAT DO I DO NOW?? I HAVE DYSON UPRIGHT VACUUMS I LOVE TO USE AS THEY ARE SUPER MACHINES.
