Dyson DC18 Upright Cleaner

I have 4 dogs and can't live without a Dyson. Each succesive model is more powerful than the previous. I've had a DC07 for 8 years and a DC14 for 2 years, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. The DC18 didn't disappoint me. I was pleasantly surprised at how small, light, and maneuverable it is. Unlike the full size DC07 and DC14, DC18 can practically turn on a dime and fits under a lot of furniture where the others don't. It's easier to carry up and down stairs. It has a kick plate making it easier to turn on, and the bare floor/carpet switch is right next to the on-off switch - no more having to change the control with my foot. The DC18 also does a much better job of vacuuming a bare floor - so I can avoid the hassle of attaching the floor tool. Power cord is shorter, and canister is a bit smaller, but I guess that contributes to making it lighter. Detaching the hose to reach corners, ceilings and crevices is also streamlined and very easy compared to the older models. I love this vacuum cleaner - and it almost makes vacuuming enjoyable.

Highly recommend this vacuum cleaner. Did A LOT of research before I bought it. Has great suction, when it is turned on I cannot even lift it off the floor though it is very light and compact by itself. Much better than the hoover that I had even when it was new.
Works great on all floor types, we have carpet, hard wood, tile, it picks up virtually everything.
The telescopic wand is nice but a little awkward, good to vacuum stairs without moving the whole cleaner though.
Overall this is a great unit to have, money well spent!

I was drawn to the Dyson line of vacuums because of their TV marketing that stated they didn't lose suction. Once I began reading the various reviews on Dyson, I was a little hesitant. People seem to either love it or hate it. I went ahead because this was such a good deal. I am completely glad that I did. The unit is very lightweight but also feels like good quality. The attachments are very easy to use. Emptying the dirt bin could not possibly be easier or less messy. The steering is easy and allows you to get into spaces that other vacuums do not allow. Last of all but most importantly, the suction is awesome! It picks up everything. There is no going over an area more than once with this vacuum. I would highly recommend a Dyson for anyone looking to pay a little more for quality and longevity. I expect to be using mine for much longer than the vacuums I have owned in the past. With a five year parts and labor warranty, that's at least two to three years more than any of my others have lasted. Don't hesitate to buy a Dyson!

I love this vacuum!! My house is mostly tile with carpet in the bedrooms - and I have two large dogs (german shepherd and yellow lab) and a cat, so there is plenty of pet hair floating around! I've had the worst time finding a vacuum that I could use on my tile that would actually pick up the hair rather than spit it out in every direction and make a bigger mess. I had even become convinced that I would need to get two vacuums - one for the carpet and another for the bare floors....until I got this Dyson. This thing is amazing!! I could easily move from carpet to bare floor and back without having anything left behind! Naturally, I did the whole experiment with vacuuming an area of carpet with my old vacuum, then going back over the same area with the Dyson - and sure enough, the Dyson picked up an incredible amount of dirt and hair that my old vacuum had left behind. The only mildly negative things I could say about it are that the cord is a little shorter than I'm used to - but I've never been able to vacuum my entire house from one outlet anyway, so it's not a big deal. The other thing was that it was a tiny bit more difficult to maneuver the vacuum on my thick shag area rug - but considering how clean it left the rug afterwards, I will gladly deal with it! Overall, it was pretty lightweight and easy to move around - and I'm a small person, too (5'1"). The telescoping wand and attachments are so convenient and easy to use - much more user-friendly than other vacuums I've had. I truly believe Dyson lives up to the hype and is worth the higher price!

I like the fact that I don't have to deal with sweeper bags any more. It is very easy to clean. It is very easy to maneuver and adjusts to all floor types. I don't have to adjust every time I am on a different floor surface. I can't really say anything bad about the sweeper. I would definitely recommend to someone looking for a new cleaner. I would not recommend if you have more than one pet. We have one cat and if we had more I would probably buy the Dyson Animal. If never loses suction either. Very good product.
