Earth Girls are Easy (DVD, 2001, Sensormatic)

This movies is the ultimate 80's bizarre comedy musical. Yes, I said musical. I love this movie because it doesn't take itself seriously, it's constantly upbeat with original, snazzy songs, and it has so many 80's America culture references. One of my favorite actors also stars in this film, and he's quite hot, so there's an incentive to keep watching. :) I LOVE this movie.
I purchased this from ebay because my other DVD died. It was a burned copy a friend gave me, and the video and audio sync gradually became more and more disjointed. I had to replace it.

Reviewers' opinions are just opinions, but I also find them useful. After it showed up on TV recently, I finally decided to buy this, one of my favorite movies. I heartily dislike camp or melodrama, and when I first saw Earth Girls are Easy, my initial impression was, "This is totally stupid." As the film progressed, however, I became fascinated by the characterizations as well as its witty, tongue-in-cheek way of portraying the silly plot. Kudos to Gina and Jeff. This is great mindless entertainment!

I recently purchased this movie on DVD format to update my VHS version. This is a hilarious musical in which Gena Davis has never looked better. It also features early performances by Damon Wayans and Jim Carey.

Though it's special effects are somewhat corny, it is a very funny and entertaining film. For Gena Davis fans, Jim Carey fans, and Damon Wayan fans, it's a must-own.

Anyone with a sense of humor should find a laugh or two in this zany, crazy, totally enjoyable film.

Being a mere 15 when this movie came out, the thought of newly shaven hot aliens that try to blend in with girls from the valley was an awesome plot. And now as a mature woman nearly 20 years older, I have to say I am still pretty amused by this movie. Granted this is not the caliber of Ghandi, or worthy of an Oscar, but curled up in bed on a late night I still find myself singing along or muttering classic lines from the movie (On my gawd, he's like totally black!). This is what the eighties were about. Silly plots and movies that were just fun to watch. This movie might not be everyones flick d'jour, but I feel that it is truely worth the shot.

And kinda a musical, what with the Geena Davis and Julie Brown songs popping up outta nowhere, like a music video. Very memorable performances by Jim Carrey & Damon Wayons and even Charles Rocket, the former scourge of Saturday Night Live, (who was supposebly fired for curing live on air). Colourful, groovy, and VERY lightweight! It's all good! :) Great version of "Love Train" by Daryl hall & John Oates at the end!
