excellent acting by William holden and Ricky Schroeder this movie starts off on a camping expedition in the outbacks of australia a married couple and thier son set off in wilderness when a terrible accident leaves thier son alone in the heart of the outback with no true way to fend for himself at the same time William Holden manages to take a trip in the same part of the region hes dying and hes going to make his death a memorable one to his dying breath he wants to die against his familys wishes surrounded by love ones he feels he has to be in the heart of nature as hes says his goodbyes he manages along the way to stumble upon the childs parents accident not knowing what to do it becomes apparent that this stuborn old man who set off to die in the wildernes has to help this child fend for himself before he dies this relationship stars off rough but ends with the child and the old man admiring and feeling love respect 4 one another trully a must get movie collectible highly recomend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are tender hearted like i am. have plenty of tissues on hand. its a shame that society has degraded to the extent. that a movie has to be violent, all special effects, cursing every other word, nudity or just plain nonsense. this movie will have you crying, laughing and wondering what happend to the human race! william holden is in fact dying of cancer for real when they made this. it shows a man pass with dignity an leave behind a wonderfull legacy. ricky schroder is outstanding. As the little boy whos family crashes over a bluff in austraila. leaving him to forage for himself. he is befriended by william holden (foley). a man who left austriala for usa to make his mark. then returns to die. the scenery acting story of life an death is all here. its a shame that movies of this calibre are few an far between. if you want to go back to a time when life is slower, meaningfull, an people actually cared for one another out of love an upbringing. This is a truly great movie as Shawn learns to survive and Foley learns to teach what he knows and to kpcare what will happen th Shawn after he (Foley) dies of cancer.

LOVE THE MOVIE, ONE THAT CAN BE TRUE. EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT. SO MUST ABOUT LIFE ITSELF, AND ABOUT HOW TO LIVE ON, WHEN YU MUST. EVEN AT A YOUNG AGE.

I decided to buy this item and have looked for it for some time. I bought it because it shows how people really grow up knowing nothing about the wilderness and can not survive on their own without others .
