Album Notes
Personnel: Emily Remler (acoustic & electric guitars); Hank Jones (piano); Buster Williams (bass); Marvin "Smitty" Smith (drums).Recorded at Penny Lane Studios, New York, New York in May 1988. Includes liner notes by Nat Hentoff.Personnel: Emily Remler (guitar); Hank Jones (piano); Marvin "Smitty" Smith (drums).Audio Remixer: Phil Edwards .Liner Note Author: Nat Hentoff.Photographer: Hershy Worch.Unknown Contributor Roles: Hank Jones ; Marvin "Smitty" Smith; Buster Williams. The late guitarist's last CD to be released before her premature death is her finest effort. Emily Remler's fluid technique brightens such seldom-heard numbers as Clifford Brown's "Daahoud" and her simplified arrangement of Claude Thornhill's lovely "Snowfall," as well as more relaxed tunes like "Sweet Georgia Fame." The polished rhythm section includes the masterful pianist Hank Jones, bassist Buster Williams, and drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith. Highly recommended. ~ Ken Dryden

One of my favorite jazz players

Created: 04/02/10
I recently discovered Emily Remler and she has quickly become one of my favorites. She had a way of making just about any song her own. She is one of the most satisfying jazz guitarists to listen too. She could play anything, but it seems she didn't focus on flashy solos or commercial licks. Her solos are rich and complex but never lose touch with the song, and just sound good. She really listens and plays off of the band too. You may think I'm nuts but I like her better than Wes.
