Album Notes
Personnel: Tim Skold (programming).Audio Mixer: Sean Beavan.2007's EAT ME, DRINK ME is Marilyn Manson's first studio album in four years, and marks something of a turning point in the shock rock king's approach. Sure, the music is still ferociously intense and aggressive, reveling in its heavy metal roots with mountains of crunching guitar and crushing drums; and Manson's infamously grim sensibility is still evident on songs like "The Red Carpet Grave" and "Mutilation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery."But EAT ME, DRINK ME is also Manson's most intensely personal album. Written and recorded by Manson and guitarist bassist Tim Skold, the album reflects the intimacy of its composition with a confessional, emotive quality not present on previous releases and lyrics that draw on the pain and trauma of Manson's own life. Though characteristically heavy and dark, the album is also brimming with glammy hooks and catchy melodies, an element of Manson's music that's been evident since 1998's MECHANICAL ANIMALS. The result doesn't jeopardize Manson's standing as a sinister anti-hero, but deepens it by making it more human.

Editorial Reviews
Alienating a fanbase with subversive musical focus has rarely sounded so good.
CMJ

3 stars out of 5 -- [T]racks like 'Heart-Shaped Glasses' draw on Berlin-era Bowie and Iggy's THE IDIOT with brooding panache.
Uncut

[The album] boasts a clutch of Goth-rock numbers that, if not evil per se, are still devilishly good. -- Grade: B
Entertainment Weekly

3 stars out of 5 -- [C]lassic industrial and glam -- martial drum machines, boogie bass, and guitar riffs you usually hear in movies set in the not-too-distant-future.
Spin

3 stars out of 5 -- [A] decent, and rather efficient, little goth-pop record.

Are You The Rabbit

Created: 11/12/07
I bought this expecting the worst. A couple people I know who used to be huge Manson fans said it completely sucked. First listen I thought hey it's not as bad as they said and put it on the shelf. A couple months went by and I put it in the CD player again. Either it got better or my ears were ready for it. Suddenly it became one of my favorite Manson CDs. They Said That Hell's Not Hot, Heart Shaped Glasses, Eat Me Drink Me, amazing stuff! Sometimes the best albums have to grow on you. 5 Stars.

Great Cd, One of Mansons' best yet! The songs, seem more pop goth, but the feel of his lyrics are still the same. A great CD! I didn't think that I would like it at first, but now, I love it! A must listen to one of his songs on this cd is "Heart Shaped Glasses".

ROCK ON!!!

This is absolutely one of the best CDs that I own, without a doubt. Marylin manson is a very talented man, and a hottie. <3 My fasvorite song on this CD is "If I was Your Vampire", but the others are good too. Usually, when I buy a CD, there is always at least one song (usually more) on it that I don't like. But on this one, I LOVE THEM ALL!!! It's great, in every way, really. I would reccamend buying this CD to anyone else, without a doubt. ROCK ON!!!

Best album to Date

Created: 29/06/07
I have been a Manson fan for years. I have all his albums from Portrait of an American Family - 1994. I always felt that he was unfairly blamed for the actions of those who listened to his music. Although many of the songs on previous albums where dark in nature or brought to the fore disturbing characteristics of humans, this album is new and fresh.

This album should appeal to a broader audience than before. Main stream music only noticed Manson when he does a great cover version. With this album I believe he will be more in the mainstream eye. People will have to deal with him although many don’t want to.

There are more ballade like songs than before. More songs dealing with feelings than before. If you think that Marilyn Manson can only spew hate at the world then this album will change your mind. Get it today, it really is worth the money.
