Movie synopsis

A woman who once made it her goal in life to marry and rear a family finds her priorities suddenly shifting in Ryan Murphy and Jennifer Salt's adaptation of author Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling memoir. In the eyes of many, Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts) was a woman who had it all -- a loving husband, a great career, and a weekend home -- but sometimes one realizes too little too late that they haven't gotten what they truly wanted from life. On the heels of a painful divorce, the woman who had previously looked forward to a contented life of domestic bliss sets out to seek her true destiny by traveling first to Italy, where she learns to appreciate nourishment; then to India, where she discovers the power of prayer; and finally to Bali, where she unexpectedly finds the meaning of true love.

Movie trailer and editorial reviews

3 stars out of 5 -- "[B]eautifully rendered....The movies creates space and a place for Roberts to give into wave after wave of feelings as she moves through resentment, guilt, regret, forgiveness, joy and hope to change her life."
Los Angeles Times - Betsy Sharkey (08/13/2010)

3 stars out of 5 -- "EAT PRAY LOVE is a merging of diary and travelogue to explore, in romantic and glowy gestures, one woman's process of rebirt....A great comeback for Julia Roberts..."
Box Office (08/12/2010)

"EAT PRAY LOVE has been made with some thought and care; the script, in particular, adapted by Murphy and Jennifer Salt, faithfully captures the easy-going rhythms and self-effacing good humor of Gilbert's prose."
Movieline - Stephanie Zacharek (08/13/2010)

Eat Pray Love

I bought this book because I like Julia Roberts and I had a new Blu-Ray player and wanted to try it out. I waited at least two weeks before I found the time to sit, watch and enjoy. I liked the scenery but that was it. I disliked the storyline and was surprised that Julia Roberts even considered her part.

I did not like the book because I felt the book was lacking so many things, like jumping around instead of staying with one situation it moved on to another. After finding her true love, the booked ended and That was when I would like to have seen more. I do think their life together would have been interesting. A sequel would be good.

Eat Pray Love.... such a perfect title

This is such a great inspirational story. Something that I could only dream to do some time in my life. I love culture & I love to travel. I have seen London, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Rome..... yet I still feel that I haven't seen enough of the world & I can NEVER learn to much of a new culture & others' ways of life. That's what this film seems to be about. Going out of your way, a great leap into the unknown world, & finding peace & yourself in doing so.

Loved the story line and of course with Julia Roberts had to have it. Great price for a blu-ray movie and the filming and direction are excellent. For those who love Julia Roberts, this is a must have movie, one of her better films.

I missed it in the theaters. And glad I did now. I got a new HD Player and this was the first film I bought. I couldn't have gotten anything better. The quality of the film and content is amazing. The story line is a tad slow at times but it makes you want to stay. And the end make you glad you did stay. It fulfills a variety of needs and interest and one I'm glad that's in my new HD library.
