Synopsis
Author Peter J. D'Adamo revolutionized the nutrition and health industry with his theories outlining the link between blood type, nutrition, and health. In this book, D'Adamo analyzes each blood type and explains the corresponding character and body traits. Devoting a section to each of the four blood types, he suggests foods, exercise, and lifestyle habits for each. Eating properly according to blood type will not only create a state of overall health, D'Adamo says, but lengthen the life span and allow the body to gravitate to a naturally healthy weight.

A friend told me about this "diet" and I decided to try it. It is awesome! The book goes into detail about Dr. D'Adamo's research as well as his fathers, who originally came upon the blood type-diet relation. In the beginning of the book D'Adamo describes how the different blood types came to be and thus why each needs a different diet to optimize our health. He divides food into three categories, highly beneficial (acts like medicine), neutral (acts like food), and avoid (acts like poison), the goal is to eventually phase out the avoid foods. Having minor health problems myself (acid-reflux), this book also helped explain why and when I tracked my symptoms they justified his explanation. It is a little hard to follow, I admit, but like any other lifestyle change once I was used to the changes they became second nature. There are no pills or gimmicks, D'Adamo just teaches you what foods are best for your blood type. I have lost 8 pounds this month and have gotten a handle on my acid-reflux so I no longer have to take medication. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking to lose weight!

Eat Right For Your Type

Created: 06/04/07
The older I get the more I realize the importance of a healthy body. Eat Right For Your Type is not a diet but a guide to healthy intake of foods designed for your blood type. For years I found I leaned towards vegtables more often than meat and found that after I ate some foods I felt sluggish or even sick. Once I read the book I found my cravings were true to my blood type and I decided to give it a try. What a journey! The first week was the most important as I was cleasing my body of the undesirable previous food intake and I actually felt a change in my attitude as well as my digestive system. I have lost a few unwanted pounds because things now work in harmony and I feel better knowing I am a new, healthier me. I would suggest this book to everyone, not just to read, but to follow for at least a two week or so period and you will feel the change. It is then up to you to decide to follow it or push it aside and go back to your old habbits. For me, I will stay with it for the most part but never go back to all of my old self indulgence of eating bad for my type. My old eating clogged my arteries, confused my pancreas and boggled my mind, without me even knowing it.

At last: eat what's best for me and avoid what's not!

Created: 03/12/06
This book makes eating healthy simple. It tells me about how foods of all kinds interact with people who have my specific blood type. No magic, just chemical interaction: what is absorbed and processed best, and what isn't. And, unlike the shorty versions of this book that are sold in some of the Drug Stores, this version tells it for all blood types, so I can learn (and grocery shop) for my whole family. And, it gets better. When I want to focus on foods that my body wants to help it heal or get rid of colds, it tells me. And amazingly enough, those foods that the book says are the best for me, are often ones that I've wanted to eat -- now I know why. For anyone interested in feeling better!!

It's interesting...

I bought this to hopefully end some of the negative food-related issues my family has and to help control weight. It was very interesting, though not as much if you do not believe in evolution. It is very heavy on the evolutionary explanations and rarely uses science as it could to back things up.

On the plus side, if you can reconcile things and get past that, it is very comprehesive in it's lists of appropriate and non-appropriate foods you should eat. IF you could keep it up, I would imagaine that you might feel better (as an A type), not necessarily because of the blood type connection, but because you are eating pretty dang healthy. My family could not give up meat. Have fun!

This Book is amazing. Truly

Although I do not agree with some of the philosophy behind this book, I do have to say, the results have been stunning. I bought this book because my husband has very high cholesterol. He has trouble taking medicines.. and wanted to change his diet, as did I, and this book seemed to really hit the mark. My husband went on the diet for his type (Type A) and his cholesterol went from 344, to 270 in one month. He is/was not overweight, and is a very active man, but his body produces cholesterol.. so to have this work in this manner so fast has been great for him. I also have been on the diet, and I have to admit, I do feel better; I was open to hear and accept the foods that were not allowed for my type...and have proceeded through the diet not 100% but in moderation.
My eyes have been opened to the reasoning and results from eating the wrong types of food for your blood type and so it make sense to avoid certain things that will cause harm to you. I do recommend this book.
