Awesome in front of a tube amp

This sounds awesome in front of my tube amps. I use a Carvin Belair and various Fender tube amps. It just overdrives the input a bit, or a lot depending on how high you turn the knob. Basically, that cool, juicy, saturated tube sound you get from a clean amp when its turned up loud you can get it at any volume.
You can also combine it with other overdrive or distortion pedals or use it as a boost for solos. But I like to just leave it on because it sounds so good.
My only complaint is that the jacks are a little touchy and one may need replacing. They are some kind of funky jack that mounts to the PCB and one side is not making a good connection. It was used, but isnt worn out.

UPDATE 8/20/11

I opened it up and noticed the PCB mounted jacks had broken solder joints. They looked like bad soldering- whitish and rough looking, not smooth and silver like a good one (cold solder joint?).

Anyway, I resoldered them and it works fine now. This is a great pedal, but for some reason mine had some sloppy assembly work as other solder points look sloppy and not properly flowed so I may have to do more fixing, but for now it works.

Just one knob ix all that you need from a clean boost to an overdrive sound. Is great to boost your other drives too.

this is a beast, i only turn my knob at 9 o'clock which is 1/4 of the pedals ability and is just amazing for solo's, strongly recommend this as an overdrive pedal, soooo cheap for soooo much overdrive.

I recommend this to people who want a transparent overdrive.

I was expecting a clean boost, which it does on settings up to 11 o'clock.

I am running this through a Marshall JCM800 50W NMV with a Gibson '61 reissue SG. With the marshall at 12 o'clock and the LPB1 cranked all the way i get a really nice raw overdrive.

It gives you a little boost. Its not a tube screamer, its not a distortion pedal of any kind. It boosts whatever you put in front of it. So yes, if you boost your tube amp its gonna give it more growl. But its NOT a distortion pedal. Think of it as giving a little more anger and muscle behind whatever you put it behind. Its a nice little trick in the bag, but nothing more. But for 30 bucks, its worth it.
