Includes bonus DVD.Another volume in the Elements series, Elements: Beyond the Reef features a DVD of underwater wildlife shot in the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a companion CD soundtrack. Elements: Beyond the Reef's synth-driven instrumentals are some of the most traditionally new age-y in the Elements series, and come close to stereotypical notions of the style on the paradoxically mellow "Shark Attack" and "Dreamtime." But for the most part, the music is both restrained and flowing, and sidesteps most of the conventional pitfalls associated with new age music. "Dolphin Dance," "Beneath the Waves" and "Quiet Time" are some of the album's other highlights. Overall, Elements: Beyond the Reef is a unique and relaxing combination of sound and vision that keeps things refreshingly simple. ~ Heather Phares
