Album Notes
ZZ Top: Billy Gibbons (guitar, vocals); Dusty Hill (bass, synthesizers, vocals); Frank Beard (drums, percussion).Personnel: Billy Gibbons (vocals, guitar); Dusty Hill (vocals); Frank Beard (drums).ELIMINATOR, with its churning guitars and synthesizer hooks, was on the album charts for over a year, and had hits with "Sharp Dressed Man," "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Legs." The album and its accompanying videos were ubiquitous in 1983, on television ZZ Top was seen on MTV, "St. Elsewhere," even on the Tonight show.1983 was the year Z.Z. Top went from being everyone's favourite bar-room boogie band to international superstars. Graced with mind-boggling and incredibly photogenic beards, a very neat trilogy of sexy videos and a collective ear for a quite distinct and highly stylized, if somewhat grizzled blues/pop, the sudden enormity of their success seems in retrospect like no real surprise. MTV had never quite seen the like and the attention given to the excellent 'Gimme All Your Lovin'' single was quickly repeated for both 'Sharp-Dressed Man' and the quite irreverent 'Legs'. It still sounds fresh, innovative and fun today. in the wake of many imitators.

Little Ol' Band from Texas Steps Out

Created: 04/08/06
So much more than a fuzzbox gimmick, ZZ Top goes far & beyond their hard-driving signature sound with the classic masterpiece, Eliminator! Megahit standards like Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man (my personal favorite), Legs, & Got Me Under Pressure are firmly ingrained in rock culture. What makes Eliminator stand out are the startling departures from these fuzzbox favorites with Thug, a crisp yet funky old-time blues story told by someone who lived long behind the iron bars. Its' driving twang underscores a tale that is inescapable.
Then there are pure fun numbers like TV Dinners (makes your tummy growl like a Dusty Hill bass line)& I Got The Six (makes you growl for other reasons). Finish it off with Bad Girl, I Need Your Tonight, Dirty Dog, & If I Could Only Flag Her Down, & you have the quintessential ZZ Top experience. Longtime fans will embrace it - new converts will be amazed - this one will LIVE in your CD player forever!

ESSENTIAL MID 80S ROCK

Yes, this CD has not dated very well. The synthezizers and programmed drums are dead giveaways. That being said, if you look beyond the tracks that are heard daily on classic rock stations (Legs, Sharp Dressed Man, Gimme All Your Lovin), you find some nuggets. Need You Tonight, TV Dinners, If I Could Only Flag Her Down, are all tracks that are equal to ones you hear ad nauseum on the radio.

Love the CD, it brought my husband and I back to our high school days. The CD is in excellent condition, I would say it is like new. The music is great. If you love ZZ Top this CD is a must have. It has their best music on it.
