Emergency! - Season 3 (DVD, 2007, 5-Disc Set)

Vince Howard, Harold "Hal" Frizzell|Theatrical release: 1973 | Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

Los Angeles in the 1970s was a little bit safer thanks to the crew from EMERGENCY! From the mind of Jack Webb (DRAGNET) this series gave a realistic look into the daily struggles of paramedics, firemen, and hospital staff. EMTs Roy DeSoto (Kevin Tighe) and John Gage (Randolph Mantooth) speed through L.A. to bring people to Rampart Hospital, and Nurse Dixie McCall (Julie London) is there waiting to help the incoming patients. With the paramedic profession still young, this show provided the general public a look into the lives of these heroes. Guest stars like Kathleen Quinlan, Nick Nolte, and Deidre Hall bring even more excitement to this third season set, which includes all 22 heart-pounding episodes.

Quality FAMILY programming

This series is the defining moment of EMS in this Nation.
Without the attention brought by this series, you could still have to dial full phone numbers and wait for a doctor to come by and see you, or just take your chances with getting to a Hospital.

Never before, or since, has a TV show had such an impact on healthcare in America.

Watch the unfolding of history when the fledgling Paramedic program was first introduced.
See representations of what actual Rescues were like, and how Paramedics became front line lifesavers.

The story lines also include the first rumblings of dissatisfaction at outdated and atiquated systems.

This series ignited the modern EMS wildfire that swept this country and had everyone demanding better Emergency Healthcare, and rocketed this PROFESSION from barely known to everyday conversation.
It also raised awareness and brought about public education and use of CPR, 911, and other improvements.

These "tapes" have even been used by hundreds of real EMS for training. (no kidding)

So if you are glad that the days of "having Two 'Ambulance Attendants' toss you in the back of a converted hearse and HOPE they got you to the hospital on time" are long gone, then you should enjoy this entertaining and wonderful series.

But then, as a Paramedic, I might be a little biased.

Quality FAMILY programming that will give you hours of viewing pleasure.

Loved the show in the 70's and still do.

I loved watching this show when it was originally on in the 70's and I was a 4th grader. Even thought that I might go into the fire department because of the show and the fact that my father was a batallion chief for the L A County Fire Department at the time.

Always thought that Universal Studios and the actors did a great job of portraying what it was like to be a fire fighter and the things they have to face on a daily basis. The shows today stray away from the main themes and instead make the show a love story or some other far fetched story line.

Looking forward to buying and watching the three remaining seasons (4 - 6) when and if they become available. Been waiting for years for the first three seasons to become available, since they seem to be releasing everything now. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for the other seasons.

I loved watching this show as a kid and have so enjoyed watching the show again years later. I had the pleasure of meeting Randy Mantooth "Johnny Gage". He still melts my heart after all these years.

Emergency 4th Season

Love the series. Don't like the sound. Too low. We have to have the TVs sound up to almost full when the subjects are talking. Then turn it down for the sirens. We want to collect all of the Emergency DVDs. Really enjoy each episode.
