This song, by one of music's most controversial artists, features Em focusing his rage like never before, ultimately calling on the youth of America to rise up and vote. While his brilliantly scathing tirade against President George W. Bush didn't lead to the politician's defeat, it certainly captured the country's attention and attempted to raise listeners' political awareness. It also effectively increased the already huge stature of the expectation-defying Detroit rapper only a few weeks before his highly anticipated fourth record's release.ENCORE is far from a letdown, as Eminem's twisted mind continues to produce razor-sharp rhymes, whether examining the world (the aforementioned 'Mosh'), venting his spleen ('Puke'), exploring his soul ('Like Toy Soldiers') or just being plain silly ('My 1st Single'). While Em's inclination toward the shocking is well documented, other than 'Mosh,' the record is relatively toned down; he even apologizes for racist comments made on a 1993 underground tape. However, that's not to imply that the proceedings are low-key; ENCORE burns with the fire of a master lyricist letting his words loose on whatever crosses his mind.

    Editorial Reviews
    3 stars out of 5 - [I]t's a lean, mean beast....There's precious little accompanying Mater's virtuoso, syllable-crammed raps.
    Mojo

4 stars out of 5 - ENCORE defeats expectations by both embracing...maturity, and being his most adolescently outrageous, gut-bustingly funny effort since THE SLIM SHADY LP.
    Uncut

Ranked #26 in Spin's 40 Best Albums of the Year - [H]e will remain America's finest reality show: crass, oddly tender, riveting.
    Spin

Captivated by hip-hop, Marshall crosses tracks both literal and metaphorical... - Grade: B

Included in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Records Of 2004 - Marshall Mathers brings the pain in ENCORE.

4 stars out of 5 - [I]t showcases a phenomenally gifted musician and lyricist doing all the things he does best.

    He does it again!

    Created: 15/07/06
The newest addition to Eminem’s ever-growing pile of albums is Encore. With less skits and more music, Eminem has truly outdone himself. Resembling a continuation of his previous album: The Eminem Show, Encore is nothing short of mind-boggling. This version of the album contains a bonus disc and if you love Eminem, then I would recommend picking it up for an extra $5.00 - $8.00 dollars. Sporting a similar look, Eminem has actually matured on this album. Both his lyrics and beats are proficient and only a few songs seem inadequate. Eminem’s image used to be all about controversy but after The Slim Shady LP, things started cooling down a bit and Eminem began being loved by everyone. Although he still produced the occasional offensive song, his shock-factor began dying down. Encore is still not swear-free but Eminem does not use cuss words carelessly. He utilizes them for the sake of the song and explanation. Avid Eminem fans will disregard this miniscule fact since this is what he is known for, after all. With only four songs featuring other artists (50 cent, Dr. Dre, Nate Dogg, D-12, Obie Trice, and Stat Quo) Eminem performs on the majority of his album. All accompanying artists are equally satisfactory in skill and style. None of the songs are butchered although one song stands out the most, due to its political message, Mosh. It discusses issues in the world today and, to be honest, is not that great. The lyrics are nicely composed but the beat and whole feel of the song is substandard. This is a song you either love, or hate. Eminem’s lyrics are still of the highest quality and his style of rhyme has considerably changed… in a good way. The album still has some trademark similarities. There still is a little bit of Kim, some Debbie, some kiddie humor, a little obscenity, and Dr. Dre! This definitely is not a mainstream rap album.

Eminem has been known for his original beats and smooth flow of words. This album still has it all and even if the occasional song may not sound right the first time, it will sound better the next time.
Eminem never ceases to amaze and this album, although not his best, still contains some talent and well thought out beats. A nice purchase if you’ve got the dough.

I don't even know what genre you put this in, What's Weird is I'm not that into Rap, and it has nothing to do with him Being White. In fact, Overall,I listen to bands like Reel Big Fish, Real Punk Rock E.G. SEX Pistols, underground punk. However, This album is FULL of Great Songs, and it comes with 2 CD's. EVERY SINGLE SONG IS GREAT except maybe 2 or 3 at the most. In fact I bought Encore twice, this copy is brand new in it's wrap, I also bought a used copy which also came with the bonus CD. I'm told I'm very lucky to find a new collector's edition of encore this long after it came out. I'm Very Happy with the songs. This CD easily gets a 5, and I never give out 5's
