R.I.P Carla Emery. She does a wonderful job of writing this multi-revised book about every topic of country living. You name it, she will discuss it. Home birth, canning, living frugally, gardening just about every fruit and vegatable, preserving and more! Prefect reference book, which I myself have re-read and referenced many times over!

I am totally amazed at the amount of information in this book. I have lots of how to books but none as complete as this one. Good solid input you can put to use right away. Every country home should have one.

The Encylopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery

This is a great book. A wealth of information. The author is very straightforward and she presents lots of resources. The instructions are easy to follow for most things. A great book to have if you are seeking to become self-sufficient, or even if you just want to bake bread and make soap!

"How-to" Do Almost Anything...Country Style!

Created: 06/10/06
Carla Emery takes us along on the ride of her life...literally. While she is busily teaching us how to trim goat hooves, plant herbs, butcher a deer and keep chickens alive, she is describing her life--including the ups and downs. This book is from the heart and food for the soul. I have read it in its entirety several times, and I still refer back to it when I start a new page of my life and/or my mini-farm. Carla describes a practical approach to just about every aspect of a self-sufficient life. I give the book five stars!
