This is an excellent book reviewing the research about the child's learning mind. It can get a little technical, but it gives sound evidence for the author's thesis that children's minds today are literally different from kids a generation ago due to environmental input.

A "must read" for every parent and care-giver.

I had read this book before and misplaced my copy. This book is a detailed discussion on the effect of electronic media on the developing mind. Excessive television, video games, and computer usage actually inhibit intellectual growth in children and stifle the imagination. I purchased this book because I am doing research on my own book on teaching children to write well.

Very well researched and documented yet still the author is plainspoken and engaging. THis book will really help anyone understand how to grow up a smarter and more teachable child. Beware parents if you let your kids watch a lot of TV. YOu'll be throwing them all out after you read this!
