Entourage: The Complete First Season (2005, DVD)
Created: 28/02/08
So that he'll never forget where he's from, actor-on-the-rise Vince Chase (Adrian Grenier) enlists the company and support of his childhood pals from Queens, NY, to join him on his path towards stardom. More than happy to oblige, Eric (Kevin Connolly), Turtle (Jerry Ferrara), and Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon) eagerly move into Chase's L.A. mansion, where they enjoy endless parties in the company of beautiful women. With Hollywood as their playground, it doesn't take long for the entourage to discover that celebrity life is not all fun and games, especially as they contend with the high-pressure tactics of Vince's hilariously cutthroat agent, Ari (Jeremy Piven), and no-nonsense publicist, Shauna (Debi Mazar). Highlights of this HBO series include special quest appearances by real-life celebrities including Jessica Alba, Jimmy Kimmel, and Mark Wahlberg, who also executive produces the show.

Good Character Show, Good Characters

"Entourage" is the HBO series about a rising star, Vinnie Chase, his manager-best friend Eric ("E"), his semi-washed up brother Johnny ("Drama") and their gofer, Turtle, who supplies them with weed and is himself frequently stoned. Making all this possible is their agent, the hyper mega-maniacal Ari Gold. Producers of the show include Mark Wahlberg, Doug Ellin and Larry Charles (both from "Seinfeld").
We've seen the rags to riches Hollywood story before, but what makes "Entourage" work is the fact that these guys, even Ari, are very likable. You don't mind seeing them walk into a Rolls Royce dealership, drop $400,00 on a car and then use it to go cruising for girls (guess what? they get them), in fact, it's scenes like this that make the show work. Pretty much everything is golden for these guys, there is hardly ever a downside, well, except for Johnny (played by Kevin Dillon, himself the semi-washed up brother of actor Matt Dillon) who is trying to ride Vince's wave and re-start his career, but finds a lot of dead ends, including in Episode 8 where he auditions for "CSI: Minneapolis" to be shot in Vancouver with Don Johnson.
Season One starts right off in Hollywood, with Vince reading scripts for his next movie and leading the guys on endless spending sprees and hedonistic excesses, all the while dealing with Arie's temper. And, from time to time, actual "stars" show up for shout-outs, including Ali Larter, Jessica Alba, David Faustino, Jimmy Kimmel, Sara Foster, Luke Wilson, Val Kilmer, Larry David, Scarlett Johanssen and quite a few more who might only be on screen for a second or two. And then, of course, there is the Entourage's own "entourage" of women, played by, among others, Monic Keena, Samaire Armstrong, Scarlett Chorvat, Nadine Velazquez, Charlotte Ayanna, Leighton Meester, Courtney Peldon and Lisa Donahue -- literally, the Beautiful People are never more beautiful when they're hanging out on the Strip with the Boys. Then there are the uncredited cameos, for example, including heavyweights Evander Holyfield and Lenox Lewis and, why not, former Playboy Playmates Cara Wakelin and Irina Voronina (quite memorable as the nude beach-goer in the "Reno:911!" movie).
"Entourage" has no moral, other than maybe showing us the reality of a Hollywood in which the "entourage" of a star neither works nor toils, yet shamelessly and undeservedly lives off his success. The show works because the cast is talented (especially Dillon) and in no way resembles real-life people (or maybe they do).

Season 1 of Entourage is far from disappointing. Acting genius Mark Wahlberg is the executive producer of Entourage, and it looks as if he broke out his book of Hollywood connections with guest appearances by Scarlett Johansson, Val Kilmer, Gary Busey, Luke Wilson, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Jessica Alba, and many more. Adrian Grenier puts together a great performance along with his entourage (Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, and Jerry Ferrara). It doesn't end there though. Jeremy Piven plays as the no-nonsense agent who wants to make his client and icon in Hollywood. Check out Entourage if you haven't already!

The first season is always the best season!!

I like it because it made my fiancee happy, his show is simply great and another reason why cable TV rocks. First there was Dexter, smart and brilliany, then there is Californication and then here comes Entourage.
The show has just wrapped up its 5th season and is still as brilliant as ever. The show follows the lives of Vinnie Chase and his buddies that have moved from NY to LA so that Vinnie can continue to make it big as one of holloywood's A-List. Along with his entourage he has his gun agent Ari Gold who is played by Jeremy Piven who steals the show with every scene he is in.
His entourage is made up of Johnny "Drama" Vinnie's half brother who is the poster boy for "has been" celebrity. Then there is Turtle, an old friend from high school that does all the odds and ends jobs around the boys' swanky pad. Then finally there i Eric (a.k.a E) who is Vinnie's best friend and eventually his manager.
The best pat about this show has to be the constant cameos that make the show feel like it is right in the middle of Holloywood high life. But as well as this this show is just so damn funny with some great moments in almost every ep that will make yo want to buy the show on DVD just to experience the eps again and again. If you are not into this show already, get your backsides in gear people and watch this show. It is simply too much fin to miss out on!

If you havent seen the HBO hit Entourage your missing out on a good thing. I started watching this series half way thru season 1 and was hooked instantly. Luckily HBO ran the entire 1st season fo those of us who missed it. I own both the 1st and 2nd season and will buy the 3rd when available.
For those of you who have not seen this show, its about 4 friends who grew up in Queens NY, 2 of which are brothers Vinnie and Drama Chase, and freinds "E" and Turtle. All four live in the same home now in California where Vinnie has become a popular actor and his friends act as his management and gofer. There are alot of great cameos by some top stars as the season moves along such as Gary Busey, Jimmy Kimmel and many more.
Its more of a "Guy" series since it does contain alot of graphic language and some pretty nice looking hotties!
I suggest you buy Entourage and you to will be hooked!
