ER - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2003, 4-Disc Set, Four Disc Set)

ER: The First Season is one of the most well-written and well-acted series of all time. Each character is richly portrayed by each of the actors. George Clooney does a wonderful job as the rakish bachelor doctor, Doug Ross. Anthony Edwards makes bald lovable as the endearing Dr. Mark Greene. One of the best episodes on this disc is "Love's Labor Lost" where Dr. Green goes through a heartbreaking loss of a patient. I can hardly wait for the other seasons to be placed on DVD.

THIS SERIES IS ABOUT A TYPICAL DAY IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM IN A CHICAGO HOSPITAL.LIKE CHICAGO, MANY E.R'S OPERATE THIS WAY ACROSS THE U.S.A.,IF YOU'VE EVER SAT IN AN E.R. WAITING FOR HELP YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.BUT WHAT THIS SHOW REALLY DOES IS NOT ONLY SHOW YOU WHAT A DAY IN AN E.R. IS LIKE, BUT EACH STORY SHOWS YOU WHAT IT'S LIKE FROM THE PATIENTS VIEW,WHAT THIER LIVES ARE LIKE AS WELL AS THE DOCTORS AND NURSE WHO WORK IN THEESE E.R'S ARE LIKE, THE USUAL UPS AND DOWNS OF LIFE.AS FAR AS A REALITY SHOW GOES,THIS ONE TELLS IT LKE IT IS,THE WHOLE TRUTH OF WHAT E.R'S ARE REALLY LIKE.THIS SHOW HAS HAD,AND STILL HAS GREAT ACTORS WHO I FIND TO BE VERY BELIEVABLE IN THE ROLES THEY PLAY.I USED TO THINK THEESE KIND OF SHOWS WERE EXAGGERATED, BUT NO MORE ! THEY ALSO SHOW YOU A BIT OF HUMOR,PATIENCE,UNDERSTANDING,A​ND WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT.I HAVE ALL SEVEN SEASONS THAT ARE OUT NOW AND LOVE TO GO BACK AND SEE THIS SHOW FROM THE BEGINING TO WHAT IT IS NOW,STILL A GREAT SHOW WITH ALOT OF INSIGHT INTO TODAY'S REALITY.VERY WELL WORTH THE TIME TO WATCH.

I can really appreciate this show. Season 1 of ER brings me back to how it all started and i believe its a good dvd set to own. I think this is how all these other medical shows (Greys Anatomy) got started.
I do recommend it if you like medical tv shows-drama.

This season may have been broadcast 16 years ago for all I care, but it seems that the drama is just timeless. Of course, I was too young to watch it at the time, but as I got older and watched it, I could see differences in the show in its later seasons that had been lost from the first...maybe 5 seasons. Sure, this season was the premier, it was still lacking some good stuff that consisted of the doctor's personal lives. It didn't seem to show enough to add to the drama, but the show did enough to introduce the character's personalities and mindsets. What was great about this show was how some of the drama was worked into the plot of each episode that made me want to watch the next one...and the next one...until the season was over. If you're looking to rent or buy the ER season's, this is a great one to start with. I'd even go as far to recommend anything from the first 8, 9, maybe 10 seasons only because Paul McCrane does such a great job as Dr. Romano.
